1 pointJavelins have freebags "pinched" at grommets. Avalons have them separated but have a channel between them which separates the closing loop from the fabric and also limits the distance between the grommets. There are more variants out there I guess. Vector freebags have separate grommets, nothing separating canopy fabric from the closing loop and require locking pull-up cord to limit the distance between the grommets while packing. Why? I know it's obviously "because the mfg chose to do so" but I would like your opinion on pros and cons of different variants, especially the fabric/closing loop separation or lack of it. Thanks!

1 pointinteresting article, says that extremists have trouble with complex mental tasks. small sample size, but it appears that some people actually DO see in just black and white, ideologically at least.

1 pointThis is funny and almost surreal. I don’t know why you’d believe me any more than you’d believe hutch, but I first met him in ‘98 and that story is pretty much how I remember it. Icarus FX was just getting to the masses, and I distinctly recall him babbling around the dz at that time about some crazy badass canopy he got to demo somewhere. I didn’t go to Quincy that year so I don’t know if that’s where it was. I was only like 1-200 jump wonder at the time. He regaled me with tales of insane wing loading and crazy fast swoops being achieved by the top canopy pilots of the day. I only met Jazz a few times but he was real.

1 pointWe have long ago established that you really don't understand percentages very well. So I chuckle every time you post them.

1 pointI'm going to have to call bullshit. All men have been carried by a woman. They're called, "Mom."

1 pointI can't speak to the Army, but I can speak to the Air Force (worked for them) and the Navy (worked with a lot of people from the Navy.) And there, as in the rest of the world, most people were pretty good about it. There were some people who were still problems.

1 pointYep. RBG was a progressive icon because she cared about the rights of others. Rush was a conservative icon because he was angry at the people they hate. That's exactly the point. Except.... every single time something like this happens we hear 'Democrats would have done the same if...' but every single time it is an example of things the Republicans have actually done. Republicans engage in the most widespread gerrymandering. Republicans engage in armed voter intimidation. Republicans rewrite the rules of postal voting and ID laws to suppress the most votes possible from unfavourable groups. Republicans refused to hear one nomination for over a year and rammed another through in less than a month. Sooner or later anyone with the slightest grip on reality has to realise that when you only ever hear people saying 'Democrats would have done this if...' then maybe it's just not true. Because that's the thing - the truth does not always lie in between two opposing groups or viewpoints. Sometimes one viewpoint is simply wrong, and sometimes one group is simply more amoral, more selfish and more concerned with excercising power instead of respecting the norms of good government than the other.

1 pointyou need a third parachute attached to legally do that. not a good idea though, you can lose your freebag and pilot chute.

1 pointI wonder if Trump will have actual legal liability from the insurrection. Will he be able to claim immunity as he was performing an "official act" as President? I would like to see him charged and tried in court. The impeachment and Senate trial is purely political of course, with no criminal penalties. If I, as a private citizen, was to organize or participate in a crime and as a result people were killed, I would be charged with felony murder. It's not necessary to be the "trigger man" to be charged or convicted.
