You've got to be kidding. We're talking about an AFF student doing entry level turns. Absolutely they should look where they're turning. The first turns are 90's. They should look to their new heading and then turn there. That helps them get to and hold their new heading. Now later on, with a more advanced skydiver to whom basic turns are second nature, and they're learning to do tight FS transitions, then your advice... ...is appropriate. But that's a wholly different scenario.

For sure, the majority does have a lower force, but some not, and I do not understand what could be the reason(s) and would love to find an explanation. Be safe. Jerome.

So why is it part of the reason to not want universal healthcare? How would the situation be any better without universal healthcare?

OK Happy Valley guy, Answer me this: in your time on this planet, have you not personally experienced milder winters? Spring and autumn that don't last like they used too??? I've only been here for 50 turns around the system but I can speak from what I've seen for myself. To be in TOTAL denial of OUR impact on climate is... PFD

yeah man, you will get advice, what advice you use is up too you!!! As stated, you learn the SIMPLE way first, focusing on SAFETY and getting you licensed. THEN you learn to become a flier! Enjoy the process.

Thanks buddy! ya many people were surprised but some of my DZ instructors were focusing on what I did not very good LMAO! such as I would turn different in the real air/not a standard arch, need to bent my legs a little more. haha I accept all of that! I keep going man this journey is beautiful.

That's pretty convenient - isn't it? All those high powered people . . . and no one is looking into any wrong doing? No one wants to champion the victims? Fascinating.

This statement makes no sense to me. I must be missing something. Can you explain why this is true? Sorry... just read this bit here ^^^ Totally agree, BUT... "decent FS" is far different from the early stages of learning to skydive, which is what our fearless @David Wang is up to.

That's a strong arch buddy, I imagine you could surprise an instructor with it haha! A faster fall rate allows you to turn effectively with a smaller input, usually, in AFF, things happen in a more "slow motion" way. Don't sweat, you'll be fine.

Ok, so you think I simply lack humanity altogether. Well you were the one that said you didn't have any of those spiritual thoughts or numinous feelings whether involuntary or not, so there was nothing to suppress. And no, I don't think all of those things together equals the sum of our humanity. In the article we were talking about several years ago, there was an atheist that said he was thinking of his mother shortly after she died and he felt this breeze come through the window and jingle the wind chimes or something like that - he immediately starting thinking as if it was a sign from his mother that everything was ok. He explained how his mind just went there, to some type of spiritual realm and it freaked him out. He said something like "whoa, where did THAT come from? That's ridiculous, I'm an atheist." So if this guy (and other atheists) admit that they dismiss these kinds of feelings, some more regularly than others, why is it double down bigoted to think that yes, some atheists repress that area of humanity in their lives?

I have seen both the yellow and the transparent version used for staticlines, but not the black ones.

The BOD is meeting this weekend. Jim McCormick is scheduled to speak at 2pm on Fri. Shude be interesting to hear what he has to say. Last summer, the ISMHOF promised ground wude be broken within 18 mos. IF thats true, then they shude have a site, bldg plan, whatever partnership lined up and the permit process started. I highly doubt that is done. Let's see. IF that has not happened, I think funding from members funds shude stop. Remember, the ISMHOF spends approx. 37% of all donations on getting more donations. So that means out of the 25k per yr the BOD has pledged, over 50k of members money is being used by the ISMHOF to do......... Well, since they havent done anything but, make a LOT of promises that don't happen, we don't know what it's used for. Make sure and contact you area director and let them know how you feel about this

As an atheist I do not require that you or the government also be atheist. I want my government to be secular.

We are all anxious when we jump. The only skydivers who are not anxious are stupid. Stupid skydivers don’t survive very long. As a junior jumper, your challenge is to convert your anxiety energy into “safe” routines, like studying the winds, planning your landing pattern before boarding the airplane, pin checks, looking over your shoulder before turning, etc.

Agree with the advice above. :) Anxiety is unpleasant but it will keep you safeish. It's good to worry about your gear, worry about the jump plan, but it's good to keep thinking about what can go wrong. Ask questions and follow the advice of your instructors. Social anxiety can also be unhelpful. For instance - doing a proper PLF if you have to is a good thing to do. If you are worried about looking like a numpty and falling over it can lead to you trying to run out a hard landing and injuring yourself. As said above, we're a dysfunctional family, right now you likely fit in a lot more than you realise. Keep jumping, stay safe and you'll figure it out along the way.

My take on where you find yourself: The tunnel is great to refine and to learn new disciplines, BUT unless one of your AFF instructors tells you that you NEED tunnel time, stop wasting that money. Get checked off and get that A license. On a side note, the other day I over heard a student tell the instructor that she didn't think it was good to look first in the direction BEFORE starting the flat turn, because I guess in her mind that caused instability. So just go into it blindly??? If your NOT a strong instructor who can be FIRM and educated people correctly, please do something else with your time. That being said Mr Wang, be a good student, if and when something doesn't sound right or safe, by all means question it. BUT also know when to listen and follow simple instructions. Excuse me while I step down off the soap box!

Back in the mid "00's; there was a girl ~your height at Skydive Dallas. We called her five foot nothing. She would take guys 6'4" on tandems. If you can pass the TI course - you can out-control most anyone strapped to you. Go for it.

they gave up that possibility when the civil war ended the era of states rights. the electoral system is what needs to go first. i have heard the argument that it stops a few cities from deciding the elections, but that is bullshit. at least the ACTUAL CITIZENS get to decide if they scrap it, the way it is now, it moves the decision to a few states and puts it in the hands of PEOPLE WHO AREN'T EVEN PICKED BY US!!. where is the outrage there? mostly nullified by good propaganda put out by the republicans. pro tip: if major corporations want something bad enough to give money to politicians, you probably don't want to let it happen if you are protecting the interests of the PEOPLE, as they should be.

HIPPI CHONKER ADVARNING Oof. This is a big topic. Hits me right in the chonkeratøs. When I was in my 30's I decided to tell the "fuck offs" to a well paid and "highly respectable" career path, went back to college, sold my city apartment and moved my shit back to my parents house. Wish there was some kind of training on this. There isn't. You want advice on how to determine the future. You can't have it. You won't know. You might do 100's more. You might do 1000's. Who cares. Just exit the fucking plane. Do what you enjoy. Feel it. Appreciate the sensation, the people you meet, the places you visit, and those you connect with. Tell them. Accept what you cannot control but take charge of what you can. And if you ever get caught up in a waterboarding situation, good luck with that.
