Fixed to reflect the actual intent of the electoral college. People should be ashamed to depend for their power on a system that was created to allow the slave states to count slaves towards their representation in Washington while at the same time denying those slaves the most basic of human rights. The electoral college is a vestige of slavery, and like slavery it should be buried deep enough to conceal its stink. Don

I am pretty sure that deregulation and "finding efficiencies" is exactly why the 737 MAX 8 crashes happened. Totally new aircraft, but by allowing it to be called a 737 no new type rating is required and pilots can be seamlessly moved from old airframe to new other than some very minor "differences" training. This is pretty common. The 757 and 767 require the same type rating. One is a narrow body, the other a wide body. There are 242 system differences between the aircraft. In at least one case, two switches in the same location in the overhead panel, with the same label, had opposite effects when activated. Maybe "efficiency" and "number of regulations" shouldn't be the measuring stick for governments and regulatory bodies.

I took a look at the ASRS records (helpfully reproduced here: https://www.theatlantic.com/notes/2019/03/heres-what-was-on-the-record-about-problems-with-the-737-max/584791/ by the Atlantic) and I didn't see any MCAS specific runaway trim problems. There was: - Two nose-down incidents while on autopilot - however, disconnecting the autopilot resolved the problem, suggesting it was not the MCAS problem (which is not disabled when the autopilot is) - Two reports of poor training for the MAX. (No in-air incident.) - One report of lack of MCAS documentation. (No in-air incident.) - One failure of autothrottles, remedied by manually positioning the throttles. Of course not everything gets reported to ASRS; there are likely a lot more squawks recorded by airlines than appear in the ASRS.

Where do you get this information? Simply owning a firearm increases your risk of being killed in an act of violence? This must be a biased study paid for and produced by some anti firearm organization. Please do share. The fact is in the US where there are the highest amounts of legal firearm ownership, there’s the lowest amount of gun violence. The cities that have the strictest gun control legislation also have the highest amount of gun violence. Chicago is a perfect example.

Operating a DZ at a tower controlled airport can be anything from absolutely horrible to absolutely great. It all depends on whether they actually want you there or not. This is especially true if it is a contract tower, that is, manned by non-FAA personnel. If the airport owners are behind you, then probably the tower people will be also favorable to deal with. It can be great or it can be a living hell. If the owner is not extremely enthusiastic about having you there it would be best not to go there.

Short summary: A software kludge to hide a hardware defect.

In my mind it all starts with the decision not to redesign the airframe when they found out they could not fit the engines they wanted onto it. Their competition had the LEAP engines and they had to compete. But they did not want to spend money on a new design. The accountants won over the engineers.

A lot of folks don't use their real names here. Apparently knowing who said the message is much more important than the message itself. The fact that you not only voted for this but, also voted in favor of donating members funds to the ISMHOF has diminished my faith in you. We do know each other. You wouldn't recognize my name if you heard it, Yer an Amazing guy Mike and have an amazing family doing incredible stuff. However, failing to give what was discussed in these meetings with board members who also are USPA members and passing that off as the general membership is a stretch. At best. Real quick to call me out when you think I'm wrong, but slow when it happens to you. I'm not the only that thinks that was shifty. When the board feels that they don't have to be accountable to the general membership, that's a problem. I'm glad you referenced the US government. This board is acting more like that every day. A high standard indeed. I agree. This has been pretty much beat to death. If I decide to pursue this further and have something to share, I'll post it.

I've flown the ATC perhaps 10 times and own a Freak 2. The Freak series is a natural evolution in terms of performance from the ATC (although chronologically the ATC was developed as a downsizing of the Freak concept). If you're comfortable in the ATC the Freak will not be a huge step up, however, you will notice the extra fabric. I have actually ordered an ATC 2 as while I love my Freak 2 and will be keeping it I found the ATC to be the most confidence inspiring suit for practicing new or more advanced manouveres. Despite a marginal reduction in surface area the ATC really reduces the stress levels associated with big suits. My advice would be to buy the Freak 3 if you want a big suit but to also keep the ATC. You can then apply what you practice in the ATC when transitioning to a Freak flight and you will also have the capability to fly with anyone in any size suit. Of the suits I've flown I think for skydiving having an ATC series and a Freak series is truly the best combination to cover the fun jumping spectrum. I've also found the Freak 2 to be a great suit for BASE.

To experience different experiences in jump aircraft, skydiving disciplines, jump procedures and landing areas. At a new DZ get a briefing when you fill out your waiver and get a lay of the land including aircraft boarding & exit procedures, landing areas and outs, canopy traffic patterns. Make your first jump(s) simple (or just solo) to get a feel of the area and get comfortable. IMHO
