1 pointParticularly because of the larger font display size, it seems to me that getting rid of most of the "pinned" or "sticky" posts at the top of forums would help. On a desktop browser with the old format, I could see about 15 posts, so it was easy to see a lot of recently active posts below them. Now I can see far few, and have to scroll down. For example, in the General Skydiving forum, the "Skyride" post has long since become irrelevant, the "Crowdsources the DZ BS detector" was never (IMO) of any importance anyway, and god only knows why "USPA's role in enforcing aircraft maintenance issues (was - Incidents thread)" was ever pinned in the first place. IMO, clearing out some of this detritus would help.

1 pointWho here do you consider an alarmist? And whoever Hansen is, how can he be so convincing to you when the American scientific community is not? Again, the glaciers are melting. Go look at them, it's simple. Why do you need to complicate it?

1 pointRussian-Style Kleptocracy Is Infiltrating America " Richard Palmer served as the CIA station chief in the United States’ Moscow embassy. ...In the dying days of the U.S.S.R., Palmer had watched as his old adversaries in Soviet intelligence shoveled billions from the state treasury into private accounts across Europe and the U.S. It was one of history’s greatest heists. ... The United States, Palmer made clear, had allowed itself to become an accomplice in this plunder. His assessment was unsparing. The West could have turned away this stolen cash; it could have stanched the outflow to shell companies and tax havens. Instead, Western banks waved Russian loot into their vaults. " Color me orange. trump wasn't the only one with open arms ready to launder Russian assets and protect kleptocrats and mob monies. This story should be required reading for those trying to understand the corrosive effects of Russian cash.

1 pointAs stated before, while we appreciate feedback. We need more specific feedback than "I don't like it". What don't you like about it? Why do you feel that it is so different from the old site? The truth is, as mentioned in another post... We received this same kind of feedback when we launched the old design. Yet it seems most that opposed it on launch grew to like it. So we understand that it takes time for users to become accustomed to changes. And the functionality is by and large the same. There are very few things that are missing on the new format that existed on the old. We realize the "new posts" is a big one and we're going to get that back up. But otherwise, I haven't been made aware of many things that make it less functional than the previous layout. If you can articulate what has changed about your experiences, we can look more into it.

1 pointSulfur coal is not manmade, and sulfur dioxide pollution from burning it is not exclusively manmade, yet you agree that it is a pollutant and it had a drastic effect on the environment. I'm struggling to see what your point is here.

1 pointWell thats somewhat moot to the discussion at hand. What is relevant is Co2 levels, industrialization and the rate of climate change now. 4.5 billion years ago, who cares? In the next 100-200 years, everyone should. The planet was stable relative to Co2, carrying capacity of humans and industrialization. Up until about 100 years ago.
-
1 pointOk, you think that mankind, in 200-something years of industrialization has made more CO2 than the volcanoes have in the 4.5 BILLION years in which Earth has existed. Come on man, I thought we were deferring to science.

1 pointWe definitely have more issues facing us. But not dealing with AGW because of that is like a diabetic 300 pound smoker saying "why should I quit smoking? I have way more health problems than just smoking." ?? Decreasing our CO2 emissions will absolutely change that "fact." If we stopped our emissions tomorrow, we'd plateau at about 500ppm and then start declining. We just don't want to.

1 pointI'd also like to see the number of "Views" for each post come back if possible.

1 pointWell, the mineral extraction industry has a LOOOOOONG history of very short term thinking. They go in, take what they can and leave a huge mess. They've put huge amounts of time, energy and money into climate change denial. I'm not sure how that can translate into anything other than 'not caring'. It may be that they don't think the effects will be that serious. Also, I've know people who absolutely refuse to recycle anything. They have large amounts of family working for Caterpillar. They say 'my family depends on mining equipment being bought. Recycling anything is taking money from their pockets." When asked if they are worried about the environment, they say that the concerns are overblown, it's all a 'liberal plot', or that they simply don't care about that. So there are some who don't care. And I don't know anyone who understands the science who claims that CO2 is the primary driver of temp change. Water vapor has a much stronger effect. So does methane. But, CO2 does have an effect. And it's the thing that is changing the most. And it's changing because we (humans) are dumping huge quantities into the atmosphere. So while it's not the 'most powerful' greenhouse gas, it is the one that's the biggest factor in AGW.

1 pointTwo years ago I started with 2 tandems and I really loved it and my friend told me he's thinking about doing AFF.... A few days later after lots of beers we signed up for the next season 2018. We watched a lot of videos during the months of waiting and went to the tunnel as well. For a long time I thought I'm psychologically well prepared to start! But as closer it came as more nervous I became Two days before the start I couldn't sleep or eat anymore....Level 1-3 were not real for me...didn't even realise what I'm doing....and then I got a mindfuck....had to do a floater exit and climbing out of the door scared the shit out of me....managed level 4 but level 5 was too much for me....was shivering the whole ride up to altitude....after that I stopped for 4 months....thought I'll never go up again. But I couldn't get it out of my mind and I knew, if I wouldn't try again, this will be something I will regret forever. So I went back and passed Level 6, 7 and my first solo on the same day. I was never so proud of myself in my life before. I'm now almost 32 and have 60 jumps now, my first rig and I can't wait for summer to be finally in the sky again <3 And I'm sure I'll do this sports for a very very long time.....

1 pointFar too much space between each forum on the main forum listings page on desktop. It is 4 full screen heights to go from top to the bottom of the page. That's a lot of scrolling. The number of topics and posts should be on one line, and the massive amount of white space above and below the forum name should be reduced significantly. Seriously, scrolling down 4 page heights to get to the forums at the bottom is ridiculous! Notably reducing the amount of white space should easily get that down to two or less, and if you only do that for desktop viewers, that shouldn't affect your mobile audience.

1 pointDoes anyone know when all of the classifieds on the old sight will be uploaded to this one?
-
1 pointYou are going to need to give them some time to correct the problems. They had to start with a completely different software package and add all the features we are used. This is difficult and time consuming.

1 pointThey told me (many times) the most important skill an AFF-student should have is reading books. Because you'll have TONS of time to do so. I was really quick to complete my AFF according to what fellow jumpers tell me, I did it in a month (DZ only open on weekends). Ground work was on a day with -2°C and snow on the ground, so no jumping. AFF1 was after 2hours of waiting, went back up 1h later and didn't get to do my LVL2 because of incoming clouds. AFF2 was a jump at 6.30PM after waiting at the DZ since 9AM. I got to do AFF3 as first load of the day, but waited until 7pm afterwards with no more jumping (winds) Then I got lucky and did AFF 4, 5 and 6 in one day, and got to go back at 5pm the day after and did AFF 7 and my first solo. From then on it gets only better. Many times I've arrived at the DZ and been in the plane less than 15 minutes later, including manifesting, getting rental gear and gearing up! In short: stick with it, after your AFF it all mellows out and only becomes easier!
