  1. Past hour
  2. Yes. I love it when chumming brings the fish to the hook.
  3. I don't disagree Phil, but you can't neuter the entire force and expect them to be able to do their jobs. And yes, the unions need reigned in.
  4. If you believe the planet will get so hot that we will be growing corn in Iceland, you would be a climate alarmist not a CAWG skeptic.
  5. Well several glaciers and some tundra has definitely become greener due to the increasing temperature. The NASA link said nothing about food production though. Also, the co-author of the paper said: The temperate countries might have a small benefit with crops due to warming, but this is offset by crops being at their temperature limit in the tropics. But climate deniers lapping up the benefits of warming in temperate countries, while dehumanising immigrants from the tropics and trying to keep them out, that's just another level of being an arsehole. Nothing new to them though.
  6. Deere combines harvesting corn in Iceland and Alaska. Its the dream of every climate science denier.
  7. Trump has had four years to change forest management practices on federal land. To get rid of exploding trees and leaves that don't decay but instead act as gasoline. All of which is b.s. Drought, record temperatures, urbanization of forested areas have all contributed. Australia and now the US. Its not rocket science except to conservatives who use climate science denial to frame their understandings.
  8. Okay, so no data or information but just some speculation about how someone could have done what you imagine. Great job steering the discussion away from the ridiculous statements made by the president so we can discuss a hypothetical scenario in your head.
  9. So a cop choking someone to death who is already in handcuffs is a no win situation? So someone who is unarmed, shot in the back multiple times is a no win situation? So someone unarmed running away from their car in a traffic stop, with their verified drivers license in the possession of LE.Is shot in the back is a no win situation? The common factor is the refusal of LE to step back from deadly force and deescalate. The continued use of force when the training dictates that in custody means protecting the suspects life. Because the courts deal with punishment not LE.
  10. Today
  11. Go and publish a paper on it then, I'm sure the academic world will be thrilled to know everything's fine.
  12. Yes it probably underestimated because it did not take into account the longer growing season here is something more recent from NASA https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2016/carbon-dioxide-fertilization-greening-earth
  13. What, you trust models now? You were pretty against them before. This paper is from 1983! It also has quite a big flaw that it assumed a massive increase in CO2 concentration (doubling) while only assuming a 0.25 C increase in global temperature. As of 2020 we're already at around 1.1C so they're already very wrong. Keep up.
  14. Laws are all we have to differentiate ourselves from chaos. We need someone to enforce those laws. Give me examples where LEO murdered someone who was just walking down the street. These things always start with the victim breaking the law in some fashion. Look at the Rayshard Brooks video. There was a very clear point where the cop could have gotten control of the situation with a chokehold. But that option has been removed. Not saying Rayshard Brooks should have been shot like that but it might have been avoided altogether if the police had the tools they need to do their jobs. I understand completely the need for change but we've put the police in no-win situations time and again.
  15. Hi Coreece, No. Jerry Baumchen Well that doesn't really help much in building your profile and improving communication. So far all I have is: - Not the one woman man type - Lacks a sense of humor Good thing this isn't a dating profile. . .
  16. What sound does blowing smoke make? Hear, listen to it for yourself:
  17. “Probable effects of increasing global atmospheric CO2concentration on crop yield, crop water use, and world climate are discussed. About 430 observations of the yields of 37 plant species grown with CO2 enrichment were extracted from the literature and analyzed. CO2enrichment increased agricultural weight yields by an 36%. Additional analysis of 81 experiments which had controlled CO2 concentrations showed that yields will probably increase by 33% with a doubling of atmospheric CO2 concentration. Another 46 observations of the effects of CO2 enrichment on transpiration were extracted and averaged. These data showed that a doubling of CO2concentration could reduce transpiration by 34%, which combined with the yield increase, indicates that water use efficiency may double.“ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/0378377483900756

  20. So...you got anything to contribute to the discussion? I didn't say I was smarter, I said I knew more about how the oil industry worked, having worked there myself. But if you think his quick googling and multiple mistakes are equally credible, then that just says more about you. One more thing: I didn't just make that statement without evidence - my previous discussions with him, his long posting history already reveals the depth of his ignorance and inability to read and understand technical details. Or even read the most basic things about the stuff he posts (like the titles).
  21. Excuses, excuses. You worded your statement as if CO2 was the major factor. It wasn't. If it had any effect at all it would be fractions of a percent.
  22. airdvr, you don't get it. You live in a world of forced false equivalencies. Have you never wanted to punch a wall or break something? Can you not imagine being that pissed off or frustrated? Cops sign up to play by different rules. Things have morphed to where they can snub those rules. Few do, that's true. But with cops it shouldn't be a percentage game because, especially now in 2020, they have the power. Life and death power. How is that so hard for you to understand?
  23. What did the PD do to make them think that?
  24. Since I recently declined on the movie option, I decided to close up the private forum AB hosts to the general public. I only started it in the event I was willing to continue to cooperate with the movie producers on the Cooper picture. That has ended, so a private site is no longer needed. This is not a big deal, since there are only a few members and activity there is very little. What the heck...it was a freebie host anyway. Most of my Cooper stuff ends up at WordPress, not this forum or that one. There are enough forums out there on Cooper anyway. One is as good as another. The truth is, I am slowly but surely extricating myself from the Cooper Vortex. I don't mind discussing the case here and there, but I have to move on to other things. I really do. Frankly, it's become kind of boring to me. I had to admit that to myself today.
  25. Pretty much. There might not be that many "bad apples," but there are even fewer good cops that will rat them out. I shake my head, thinking about my own employers (semiconductor design companies) having similar employee culture. None would have stayed in business. Yes, you get people protecting marginally competent friends, but nobody I ever worked with would protect criminal or grossly incompetent coworkers. Good riddance, and get back to busting our asses.
