A fun and forgiving canopy for transition period
A bit of a lazy response in the first part of toggle input

I transitioned from the Aerodyne Solo to this canopy not long ago with a wingloading of just bellow 1.1. The openings are super nice with consistent on heading deployments but they are not super slow which I like. Very forgiving during packing and flies like a dream. The Solos in comparison were much more sluggish and the snivel during deployment is just too long, which often resulted in off heading deployments.

It is nice and docile if you want it to, but put a bit more pressure to those risers and toggles and you got yourself a sweet ride which will keep you entertained. That said it is trimmed quite steeper than the Solo and I believe it is made to safely transition to a Sabre 2 or Volt canopies in the future. Another thing I noticed is tons more flare power compared to Solos which tend to just sink even at full flare.

Cheap, fun and forgiving canopy, would highly recommend if your future goal aims towards more agressive canopy profiles, but nothing that a beginner could not handle at low wingload.

Opens great, affordable
Not as well known in north america

Got into skydiving through military and was jumping the giant tractors. When I bought my own rig it initially came with a ZP.EXE 215 which for the ten jumps I did on it were great. Nothing too crazy, nothing too bad, just dependable. I started jumping a 190 silhouette at work and thought why go back up in size so I was in the marked for a new canopy. I found a ZP.EXE 185 with 45 jumps on it. Essentially brand new and at a loading of 1.4 ish out the door it is FUN!!! It still has the same soft opening as the larger size and is extremely forgiving but when I want to play with her she's game. I love this chute and although my other is a 190 stiletto, I am going to keep it. This chute is my go to for any and all conditions and under my WL I can mostly keep up with the faster guys. I have even been successful on a couple swoop and chugs because she is so forgiving that I can easily correct my final swoop placement if I have to.
Is it racy and the next best thing? No, but it is really dependable and a lot of fun when the WL goes up. All the fun of a Sabre2 but less $$$. I believe the VOLT is the upgrade and if its anything like the ZP.EXE, you won't be disappointed.

Affordable, responsive, waxy coating makes it easy to pack
Quick rate of descent

For those of you looking for a budget square canopy, look no further. The ZP.EXE from Parachute Systems is a sound buy, especially given the state of the world's economy. I downsized from a Pilot 168 to a ZP.EXE 150. Quite a difference: the Pilot is a more docile canopy with greater glide - a great canopy for the newly-qualified jumper. The ZP.EXE 150 is a cheekier beast, quick and responsive. It does have a rapid descent rate - be aware. The openings are faster than the Pilot, but not fast per se, and clean. The canopy can wobble a bit in turbulence, but there again, so do many canopies. Although the canopy sinks quickly, it does have the ability to get you back from bad spots using brakes and risers. I am sure there are canopies out there that are "better" (and more expensive), but if you're after a non-pretentious square that won't bankrupt you, this is it. I'll keep this for the next few hundred jumps at least.

excellent stability, good openings, easy to fly
didn't find any

Hi,
i simply love my ZPX 185, i load it at 1.14 ratio and every single flight is a dream. you can ask a lot to it. it will be there anytime. i have now 35 jumps with it. Landings can be real smooth if you want to, but if you want some more «spice» you can easily have some speed ones ... it's just a matter of experience :-) I highly recommend this main chute to any beginner !

Cheap,Stable, Reliable, Smooth Openings, Easy to pack
Fast descent rate

Nice canopy...lovely fast, on heading openings (without being aggresive ) and flies very nicely. Perfect for me as a'first' canopy offering the balance of reasonable performance with reliability. A known issue with this canopy is a fast descent rate , which is noticable but does not affect performance too badly.....even on a couple of deep spots it can still 'float' quite well if you know how .
Lovely landings, very stable.
And the coating on top of the ZP also saves you alot of grief when packing.
Dunno about the smaller canopies ort higher wingloadings...but for a 'first' canopy off student gear this 215 is a whole heap of 'safe' fun . And as for the customer service issues...I had two queries answered perefectly within 12 hours.....so farI have no cause to di the canopy or the company...
Edited 10/04 to add...I recently had a premature deployment in a stand ......this canopy opened fine and after ground inspection there was not a thing wrong with it at all.....I weigh 215lbs and the deployment was at a speed in excess of 180mph....no canopy damage at all= one really really tough parachute !!!

Openings, performance, price,ease of packing
none

Had a ZP135.exe for eighteen months now, and I love it! Superb landings, constant on heading openings, and very easy to pack for a ZP canopy. Never had a problem getting back from a bum spot yet, even with the canopy's descent rate. If you know how to do it, then you'll be fine! Can't think of a bad thing to say about it!

Very Stable, Very Reliable
Faster than normal descent rate

Granted, this is my first canopy. My loading is 1:1.3 I just LOVE it. Easy to pack (after the first couple of jumps hehe). Very stable in flight. Handles turbulence beautifully. Very responsive to taggle input. GREAT swoops.

It WILL come down faster than other canopies. Something to do with the angle of the wing. So make sure your spot is good or dump higher :)

Cheap
Bad service

My review is about Parachute Systems, formerly Chute Shop. Same owners, different name. I owned a Chute Shop ZP-135. It flew badly. My initial contact with Mari at Chute shop went well but they then refused to respond to repeated emails. This went on for months. I was unable to get line specs, a lineset, a reline or any information. I no longer have the canopy. A friend who has an identical canopy told me that a couple of years ago it took four months to get a lineset from Chute Shop. I have done business with PD, Precision Aerodynamics and Aerodyne. They all have first rate products, rapid response times and great service. From Parachute Systems you can expect NO service after your purchase. If you check around you'll find the same complaint all over about Chute Shop. It's hard to even find a dealer for their products, why do you suppose that is? Save your gear money for a manufacturer who cares about more than the initial sale, there are plenty of others who have better products and great service too.
