Great field of vision. Good comfortable fit.
Pity price isn't a little lower

Purchased this as my first full face helmet after getting my A-licence. Tried a number of others before settling on this one as the best/most comfortable fit for my head. My L&B Quattro fits perfectly in the provided cutout and I do not notice it at all, other than hearing the beeps very clearly. Made a dumb mistake of hopping out the plane with the visor open one jump and it was easily closed in freefall. Vision is great and only ever experienced misting up at the very bottom of the lens. Not cheap, but I'm a happy customer so far. Brilliant that it comes supplied with a case that holds my alti, gloves, earplugs, wallet, phone, keys, etc.

Good quality and fit !
Might be hard to get/buy..

I have been an open helmet jumper
ever since I startet jumping in-86.
But after getting tired of rigging goggles and strapping on helmet , I decided just to try a full-face helmet. And this baby does not take long to fit on....It is so easy...
The view is excellent and the fog issues are none... In my opinion this helmet has to be number ONE.

Comfortable, quiet, and great visor.
Replacement visors are expensive.

After having been on a back order since early June 2011 for a Cookie G2 in XL, I couldn't wait any longer. I drove to Paragear in Skokie, IL and tried on about 6 different full face helmets. Nothing came close to the quality and fit of the FreeZR. The audible alti cut-outs are integrated nicely and you cannot even feel the unit (ProTrack) when in place.

The visor locks and unlocks down over two brass posts and is as clear as any high quality motorcycle helmet/visor I've worn.

I've got 15 jumps on mine and have no complaints. Eventually, I'll have a Cookie G2 to compare it to. Question will be, which one will get the most use.

Good field of view with room for glasses.
Expensive visor.

The helmet fits well on the ground and I can have my glasses under the visor. When tracking, the chin part gets pushed in a bit and my nose hits the visor. Not a big deal, but slightly annoying.

What's really annoying is that the locking mechanism is made of two pins and two drilled holes in the visor. Sometimes it is hard to close it, but once it is closed, it stays closed. What's worse is that within 50 jumps, cracks had gone from the drilled holes to the edges of the visor. I contacted the dealer, he contacted Paratec and they sold a new visor to the dealer, which he sold to me at a price below what he paid. Really bad customer service from Paratec.

With cold weather I often got some fog on the visor that quickly froze over so I had to open the visor for canopy flight.

Goog fit and comfort, available in real XL sizes ..
Face cover too expansive to replace and prone to break.

I used this helmet for couple of years. I have a big head and it was hard to find some thing that looks good, fits good and comfortable to use. FreeZR was my choice. But after using it for little over 4 month my full face cover broke at the connection point and it cost like $70 to replace .. No factory warranty .. Come on $70 for a plastic cover made in china way to much ..

Feels great on, no fogging issues, actually closes over my glasses!
none worth mentioning

Only have 8 jumps on mine so this is not a long term review. So far I am absolutely love this helmet. Went from a Z1 open face to this one and it is so much quieter it is fantastic. I can actually hear my audible all the time now not just some of the time. Visibility is fantastic, like your not even wearing a helmet. As for the audible being uncomfortable, look in the pocket and you should see that the foam is cut. Remove the foam and that's where your audible goes. The rest of the foam now takes the pressure. My Neptune 2 fits the hole almost perfectly and I barely know its even there. I would definitely recommend this helmet to anyone, especially after trying every other helmet on the market and finding that only the Freezr is built big enough to fit my big head and actually close over my glasses.

great field of vision, great fit
expensive visors is all i can think of

I purchased this after experiencing the lousy quality control and customer service so Parasport and their Z1 that comes with human hair and other paint inclusions.

The FreeZR is what you expect to receive when you authorize a charge of $300 + to your CC. Great fit, quality, comfort and you get a helmet bag included....not hair in the paint!

Nice Helmut
Wrong size

Received a L to start, couldn't even get in on my big ol' head, sent it back and got a XL, it seemed big. After a few jumps, there were multiple times I would have to pull it back on because it would almost come off, even with the chin strap as tight as it would go. It's marked XL, but after comparing it to a friends XL, mine is no doubt marked wrong and is a XXL...of course they would do nothing as now it's a used helmut.

lens broke

My new freezr helmet lens broke where the lens locks to the front of the helmet. There are two holes drilled in the lens which are snapped down over two small metal posts. The manufacturer refused to replace the lens. I guess when you charge $100 for a replacement lens you don't want to cover the damage.

Variable shell sizes, Comfort, Visiblity
None So Far

I have been jumping this helmet for a 120 jumps. I do everything from belly work, to freefly and head down in this lid.

I have a small head, and with the option of a small shell size, it not only fits well, it doesn't make me look like a bobble head.

The visor is strong with an excellent closing system. The field of view is wide, and I have no problems seeing my handles.

A previous reviewer was wondering how the helmet would perform in colder weather. Well, up here in Canada, it can get pretty chilly. The coldest jump I ever made was -25C and the FreeZR performed like a champ. Other than some condensation on the visor after opening, no issues.

I would recommend this lid to anyone!!! It is friggin' AWESOME!!!

Wide vision, (sun) glasses wearer friendly
none so far

Since a lot of reviews about the FreeZr also include that the one who bought it has a big head, I decided to write one as well, but this time that it fits as a glove for smaller heads as well!

When I was looking for a fullface helmet I tried on a few. When I put on the FreeZr, I immediately felt comfortable with it on my head. Lightweight, and good vision all sides. Even tried it on with my rig, could see my handles no problem. Tried it with my sunglasses underneath, because in summer that is what I would do. No problem!
Paratec offers 3 different outer scales, and 6 different padding sizes. So I guess for each head there is a fit! I thought I had a pretty big head, but the XS had best fit. When I put on a Z1 to compare, I immediately took it off again because it wasnt nearly as comfy as the FreeZr.
Had to wait a bit till I could try it out, but now with only 4 jumps with it I have no regrets whatsoever. The first jump I even forgot to fasten my chinstrap, and it didn't come off! (belly flying)

Maybe in due time the stuffing around the chin will become less stiff and then maybe it will come off if I ever forget the chinstrap again, but I have no intention in trying that again.

While flying no problem with fogging, under canopy a little bit, but fixed by breathing out trough my mouth or open the visor a little bit. (tried it while it was -2 degrees)

Opening and closing the visor is a little tricky at first because of the two pins at the sides, but not annoying difficult.

Hope to enjoy my FreeZr for a long time!!

Exellent visibility and comfortability
None

I tested a freeZR i the Bedford tunnel in April and became interested in buying one. Received my new one in June and have made about 50 jumps with it.
The helmet fits as if it was tailor made for me!
The visibility is great and it is really comfortable.
I have seen some comments regarding people who sense it as being easy to fall off. That is not my opinion (at least it does not go for me), I think the chin strap has been modified in newer models.
For me it fits so well that even at jumps when I have forgotten to fasten the chin strap, the helmet stays on, does nor move at all...

The visor is easy to open and stays closed even during freeflying activities. The only concern I have is if the closing mechanism/or rather if the hole in the visor, can stand winterjumping with -10-20 degrees Celsius...

In total a fantastic helmet, that does its job!

Outstanding Visibility
Some minor visor problems

I am pretty new to the sport and use to wear the ole' Protec but because of a close call, my face hitting the ground when my student rig caught a big gust as I landed, I decided a full face would be best to protect the some $7000.00 worth of braces in my mouth. I tried on the Oxygn, Z1, and factory diver but my big ole' pumpkin head just didn't fit right. Enter the FreeZr. It fits great and has wonderful visibility. The only complaint I have is the left side of the visor sticks and has to be fiddled with to get down, I don't latch that side because it doesn't seem to hurt anything and it stays closed from the other side. I've contacted paratec and am waiting to hear back from them. Other than that great full face I highly recommend it. It's true too, it doesn't fog in them SC winters. :-)

I can wear eyewear with it
Junk visor operation

After getting ahold of the company, and making them aware of the problems I was having, they sent me an updated side cover, and a new lens to boot! the operation of the visor is as it should be now, so I'm quite happy. The placement of the strap still has me scratching my head, but at least the thing stays on my head! Thanks to the folks at Paratec for caring, their follow up meant alot.

Adjustable Internal padding, visability, cool factor
absolutely none!

I've been jumping my FreeZR for about 6 months now and not had one problem with it! I bought it for a number of reasons and it meets them all. Firstly, with having a largeish head, I found it difficult to fit into other full face helmets. With the FreeZR being a standard fit helemt with interchangeable padding to make up the fitting size, I was able to find a perfect fit instantly. I would recomend anyoe who is having problems with their FreeZR to look into changing their padding. Its very easy.

I've got to say that wearing the helmet in freefall feels great. I think people wearing it worry that it feels loose. I think this may simply be due to the superb airflow system it has, as I have tried to take it off whilst still wearing the chin strap to no avail. It doesn't want to come off. It takes a little getting used to but its worth it.

The final plus point is its looks. I've got it in metalic blue, which goes well with the rest of my gear. It certainly makes people take note of you!

Big enough for my melon
Audible pockets

This was a major find for my big old melon (7 5/8). The XL fit great right out of the box. Not sure what the complaints about security are. If this thing were to come off in flight, I think it would take my head with it! Maybe you have to have a prominent chin for the buckle and strap, but I have had no problems with it. The audible pockets are poorly designed and it usually takes some squishing around to get the audible to settle into a comfortable position.

Had to update based upon GREAT customer service! After about a hundred jumps, I lost the right side fairing (a cover plate over the hinge on the facesheild) and hinge bolt while in freefall (must have whacked it on the plane on exit or something). I temporarily repaired it with a washer, nylon nut and bolt from Home Depot. Contacted PARATEC on their website and was soon contacted by Ken Krueger, the US Paratec representative. Long story short, they not only replaced the missing hinge bolt and fairing, but also provided an upgrade kit to turn my first generation FreeZR into the much improved third generation (improved visor hinges and fairings).

This company really cares about its customers! Great service, great helmet!!!

Comfort
Fiddle to get comfortable

I haven't skydived using the Freezr yet but I've just been in the Bodyflight tunnel and have found the helmet to be comfortable, very secure and offering great visibility. My glasses fit in it with ease but I've found that it has taken quite a while to fit my Protrack into a comfortable position. The pocket where it fits is in a horizontal position but I found it much more comfortable in a more vertical orientation.

visibility
security

I've been a Protec jumper in the past; the Freezr is my first fullface. I like it; the visibility is good, and the visor's design seems to work well.
I solved the problem of its not feeling so secure on my head with an additional strap across the back.
I'd demod a couple of other fullface helmets, and didn't like the level of head protection or how close everything was to my face. To me this one is better, and I'm happy with it. Of course, every now and then people give me the "wow look at the size of that helmet" look, but, well, such is life.

Great visability and custom fit
None so far

I have almost 400 jumps on my FreeZR and have yet to have any major problems with it. The workmanship is second to none. I had a Z1 prior (around 500 jumps) to my FreeZR and have found there is very little to compare between the two.

The service from the factory people is very very good. When I call the rep he has yet to take very long to get back with me (and thats a big deal to me). Over all the helmet has held up well for the first 400 jumps. I will be replacing the pads soon (fat head = helmet is getting a little loose after all this time). It has yet to have any fogging issues (sounds silly unless you jump in SC in the winter).

I would recomend this helmet to anyone (be sure to look at different pad sizes and mix and match a little before you let some sales person tell you its only for people with fat heads like me)

unlimited peripheral vision, fits XXXXL heads
limited opening range of the visor

After having a XXL Z1 fow quite a time a tired the FreeZR this season and wow - what a difference.
The visibility is awesome - you don't realize that you wear a helmet. I once eve forgot to open my visor under canopy (what I normally do) because didn't realize it.
You need to get used to the opening mechanism of the visor but on the other hand Paratecs solution gives unwanted opening a 0% chance.
Being used to the flip up of the Z1 the only slightly negative thing with the Z1 is, that in "full open"-mode the visor is still in front of your head and not completly above as with the Z1 - but on the other hand - who needs it there.
It is also the first helmet where I can use my Oakley with the visor closed - and as we all know it's about looking cool, so this is another big thumbs up.
Repeating what is said in the other rewiews, the FreeZr appears to sit a little bit loose around the neck/chin but I never had any problems using it on belly jumps as well as on head down, sit and stand.
You have two pockets for audibles which indeed are a little bit less comfortable than in the Z1.
The whole size system works in the following way:
They have two outer shell sizes. One for XXS till M and one slightly bigger for the L - Xl people. To adjust to your size there are different padding to attach inside via velcro. They range from the Xs to the XL size getting thinner with each step. Right now I'm using the XL version and it is really comfortable.

large shell, peripheral vision, visor locking mechanism
audible pocket

Jumped my FreeZR about 60 times now and its been great everytime. Some people i've showed it to have been dubious about the lack of a tightening mechanism saying it looks like it could fall off easily, but i haven't had any problems both flat flying and sit flying, the helmet has always stayed put.

The helmet is very comfortable, i have a big head and couldn't get into most other full faces (tried the XXL Z1 which didn't fit, and the XL oxygen wouldn't fit either) but because the freeZR has a large shell size i have no problems.

I love the visor locking mechanism on this helmet, it is about as simple as you can get, but it works every time and has never opened when it shouldn't. In my opinion it is a superior mechanism than all other full face helmets i have seen (was jumping with 2 other people that had oxygen helmets and both of them had their visors pop open in freefall on more than one occasion over a 2 week holiday)

My one con with the helmet is the audible pockets, although they are very secure, and make it easy to hear the audible i find it can be uncomfortable against your ear at times. Also the audible needs repositioning when i put the helmet on otherwise it is uncomfortable.

Comfortable as all Hell!!!
No way to tighten the collar (in the rear)

I've worn my Freezer for about 20 jumps now. This is one of the most comfortable things I've ever put on my head. The visor has a dual locking system that works even if only on is locked and the ratchet (or whatever you call it) on the visor, allows it to stay however opeb or closed you want it. You cannot go wrong with this helmet!!!!!!

Spacious inside, fabulous peripheral vision, semi-customizeable fit
There's no such thing as a perfect helmet

After about 30 jumps on my Paratec FreeZR, I'm quite pleased with it.

The helmet itself seems well-constructed, although I am not sure how much impact protection you actually get from these shells. The interior padding is quite comfortable and there's a fair amount of reinforcing foam. The interior padding has about five pieces (back of head, top of head, forehead, left cheekpiece, right cheekpiece) which are stowed with Velcro, so you can just pop a panel out and replace it with a larger or smaller one to semi-customize the fit to your head. This helmet is also most spacious. It's quite wide, which for people with big noggins like me is excellent.

Ventilation is pretty good, with two vents on the front and two pass-through vents on the rear (the front vents make you look a bit like a giant bug, but hey) give you pretty good ventilation in freefall. I haven't had any significant fogging even on fairly cold Virginia early spring mornings.

The real selling point, I think, on this helmet is the fact that the visor is actually big enough to see out of. The peripheral vision is incredible, whether you're turning points or flying your canopy. The visor release mechanism consists of two metal studs, one on each side, that fit through holes in the visor -- this sounds shadier than it is, the latch mechanism is very secure. You must actuate the latch on both sides of the helmet to get the lid open; it takes both hands or some practice. I can do it in gloves without trouble. The latching process has a very positive feel. I always jump with glasses and haven't had a problem (a big plus for nearsighted me).

The chin strap is pretty good, but there's nowhere to tuck the excess material, and it works itself a little bit loose after every few jumps. Unfortunately, you get no guidance from the manufacturer on anything. No visor replacement instructions, no manual, you're on your own as far as care goes...kind of suboptimal.

The one thing that I wish this helmet had was a way to snug the airflow padding on the bottom of it (the velcro side-tab system on the Oxygn A3, for example, works very well). I haven't had a problem, I just wish it was a little bit closer fit around the throat.

Other than that, great helmet. No complaints -- I love being able to see what's going on around me in freefall while still wearing a full-face.

Padding, peripheral vision, good venting, audible pockets
There is no such thing as a perfect helmet: visor ratchet may not hold up to abuse; visor doesn't come up very far;

This helmet rocks out. Admittedly, I only have 6 jumps on it, but here are my initial impressions:

Pros: Space. It's like a living room compared to a Z1. It's a wide helmet, but the padding is nicely set up (and there is a serious layer of Pro-tec thickness padding) so you don't feel or look like Darth Vader (*coughHavokownerscough*)

View angle: Peripheral vision is fantastic, both in FF and under canopy.
- The visor release is two metal studs on each side of the lower visor edge, with a flared thumb latch beneath them. You need both hands to raise the visor (I do so after controllability check), but it's a breeze compared with the little latch button on a Z1, and easy to do with gloves on. Glasses would be no problem.

Interior setup: There's a serious layer of interchangeable Pro-tec thickness padding, with two internal audible pockets, well-located over your ears and sewn into the liner such that I can't see tape ever being a necessity.

Venting: Two mouth vents and two subtle pass-though vents on the rear of the helmet do a great job of providing airflow, without a claustrophobic feeling or any whistling in FF. No fogging whatsoever, even on the one cold day in Texas when I got minor frostbite on my fingertips (splitfinger gloves a bad idea) in freefall.

It works: The chin strap feels secure, and I haven't had the helmet move around at all on exit or during opening; taken two door hits during overenthusiastic exits, neither of which I felt. Minimal paint scraping afterwards.

Cons:
- This is mainly cosmetic, but there's no place to tuck the excess chin strap webbing. The visor also sucks up smudges and skin oil, (from what I've seen) moreso than a Z1 or Oxygen.

- No manual, care instructions, visor replacement instructions, or any manufacturer information in the box.

An excellent piece of hardware, provided reliability holds up.
