Vector III

The outstanding design of the Vector III secures all riser and pin cover flaps, even in the most radical freefall, without using Velcro. The main pin flap's closing, from the bottom up, protects the pin better, particularly while moving around in the aircraft and during freestyle maneuvers. The ergonomically designed harness curves over your shoulders nicely. It provides greater comfort and it fits narrow shoulders as well. The harness is also stronger as a result of improved confluence construction. The VectorIII has an over all cleaner look, a more protective design and a tailored and comfortable fit.

Looks, Comfort, Design, Overall Quality
None

Just received my Vector earlier today and this thing is amazing. Looks great, feels great and I cant wait to "test jump" it. It's at the rigger's loft at the moment. I'll comment on the ride down when I do next week. Great job RW.

Solid rig
placement of main risers, cut away and reserve handles, riser flaps, AAD placement

I have this rig for about 9 month now, did 150 jumps on it. My main problem (but not the only one!) is the flaps of the main risers, they are SO stiff that they might open (and it did to me!) while free flying. I almost lost my life as the right flpas opened in the transition to headown, and the riser when out, the break toggle released and wrapped arounf my neck!, luckily I noticed that quickly and was high enough to release the mess and open. I am not sure it would happen in other rigs, but it definitely happened with Vector 3.

The AAD is hidden inside the reserve flaps. Now I understood the idea behind: that one will have to check the reserve everytime, but they should leave this decision to me. Moreover, I heard that Cypress 2 turns themselves off in rear occasions, but in that case I will ruther it being visible so I can get comments from jumpers on the plane.

Overall I think that the rig is TOO expensive for its quality, and there are better rigs outthere for the same price or lower.

Comfortable, everything is secure
Cypres window hidden

I have put about 10 jumps now on my second hand Vector 3. It was made for someone bigger than me yet it is still very comfortable to wear. The tuck tabs on the risers are not going to go anywhere in freefall. As for the reserve pin cover, it is the most secure I have ever seen. I can't imagine how it would ever come open accidently. The main pin cover seems more secure than those of the same type on other rigs. I have the back pad and hip rings. It makes the rig very comfortable on the ground and in the air. I really like the Tru-Lock toggles. I have only seen one other type of velcro-less toggles and the Tru-Lock toggles make more sense to me.

The only thing I do not like about this rig is where they put the cypres window. I don't mind that it is under the reserve flap, as it was under the reserve flap in my last rig. In the Vector 3 they placed it so far up in the yoke I can barely see the display. I don't know if a rigger can move it down or not but I will be checking on that.

All in all this is the most secure rig I have ever seen and don't let a little thing like the cypres window steer you away.

everthing you could possibly want on a safe rig
none as far as I'm concerned

I have had this rig for about two years and absoulutely adore it. It has never failed me, always been comfortable and always groozy looking. When I went to Germany with it I got alot of compliments and there were a few who wanted to jump it. I had a second vector 3 container while I was there and was begged to sell it . So I did. ABout what I paid for it. In germany a rig is only good for 12 years and this guy wanted it anyways in 2002. I have personally meet the great staff at Relative workshop and they have always been very hospitable and eager to please. They have a rigger there named Louie and he is the best I have seen so far as customer service, on time rigging, and overall friendliness. Highy recommend sending your rig to RW for your next repack. Nothing but good things to say about RW and plan to continue to share this story and always think RW when I go for another container. After all they are the first container makers since the birth of skydiving. Everyone else is just trying to catch up.

Great Fit!! Exactly as i ordered it!!!
almost a month late from promised date

I orderd my new Vector III M-series and waited inpatiently for the rig to come. when it finally came i tore open the box. I just HAD to put it on. the fit is Great and all the custom embroidery came out better than i had hoped. All the measurements and options were just as i had orderd them...

My only complaint was that it arrived almost a full month after the promised date. and they added some extra charges that we had discussed on the phone...

Would i do it all over again? Yup Even if i had some service issues, it's still the best rig on the market and i'll keep jumpin one as long as they maintain their leading edge on safety and design...
I love My Vector!!

And Egan at Relative Workshop was really great about me bing picky about some of my options...THANKS EGAN!

Perfect fit, exellent riser and pin protection, solid performance
None that I have found so far

I love this rig. The ONLY downside was that it took a couple weeks longer to deilver than originally estimated but that is not a negative comment on the product itself so I'm not going to deduct any points for it.

This rig fits better than any I have worn and even with large canopies and somewhat heavier was very comfortable. Video shows the covers stay totally closed in freefall.
Nothing opened until I wanted it to.
I think it looks great too. I'd buy another in a second.

main and reserve flap coverage, shape, looks,
CYPRES hidden,

I bought a Vector 3 M-Series for my first rig and I love it. There are many good things about this rig. The reserve pin flap is the most secure I've seen. The way the flap pinches up and under is very secure and it has never even looked like it was about to come open, even while sit flying; some other rigs on the market are not as tight, like the Mirage, it seems to always have a hump that you can see through. The Vector 3 M-Series has coverage on all four sides so that nothing can penetrate the pin. Also, the shape is extremely aerodynamic and looks awesome. The first reaction I had from someone at my dz was that they couldn't believe that a 170 would fit in it. The internal riser covers and the riser cover flaps are also very secure; nothing exposed. There are only two things that I wish were different on the M-Series, and they seem to be what many other people feel should be changed also, that the CYPRES could be visible (like on the mirage) instead of being covered in the yoke, and that the shoulder straps were a bit more comfortable (like Wings), although they aren't truly uncomfortable. If the Relative Workshop were to make these slight changes I think they would probably have the best rig on the market, although I think they still do. My next rig will be another Vector from RW.

Bulletproof flaps and pin covers, no bridle exposed, skyhook RSL, TOTALLY comfortable in FF and under canopy
Shoulder straps can poke you in the plane

This rig is bulletproof. Extremely comfortable and very nice overall construction. The upper harness holds onto you very well, so well in fact that sometimes on a cramped otter I can feel the hard cable housings poking me in the arms. The trulock toggles are the best I've seen but don't leave them to your packer, most of them are confused by them. The riser covers can be a little finicky, at least on my rig, on the ground. They've never opened in freefall but one side doesn't seem to 'seat' quite right. RWS' master rigger looked at it and said it was the reserve pack job though, so we'll have to see if it's the same after my next repack. Other than that, highly recommended.

Haven't had a chance to try the skyhook yet, but it seems like a great advance in RSL technology. I'll update here if (when?) I have to use it.

In the gigantic size I bought (v358M) it's a heavy rig, but with 455SqFt of canopies in it, that's hardly RWS' fault.

I got my Vector 3 about a month ago. The main reason for getting was for freeflying. I didn't trust my old one going too fast. I was looking into Wings and Mirage before I went with the Vector . The wings fit real nice but it didn't have secondary riser protection . The Mirage would've costed about the same as the Vector . I went from an eclipse and I wanted the (pilot chute)handle to be in the general area that it was in before .The other rigs were a little bit shorter in length for what I was used to.I only have two complaints . I wish it had a visible cypres window so I didn't have to lift the reserve flap to verify that its on during the day .I never found out about this before I ordered . The company might be able to put one in .The other thing is , I jump a 190 so the rig weighs about 22 lbs . The shoulder straps are sort of narrow for all of the weight . The cables are routed under instead of on top ( for the cutaway housing and the reserve ) so I can feel them around my shouder area . The rigger compared them to another guys vector and it was routed the same way . I'm going to look into getting some padding for them . Speaking of padding . The legstraps are very comfortable with the foam inside of them . The overall quality of the container is very high . I'd definitely buy another one .

I just received my custom ordered Vector 3 M-Series. I researched several container before deciding on the V3. I looked into the Vector 3, Javelin Odyssey, Mirage G3, Voodoo and Wings. After careful research, speaking with many people, and looking at the rigs themselves I decided to go with the Vector 3. From the start, Relative Workshop was professional, friendly, and very cooperative. The whole crew at RWS really was patient with me. I'm so impressed with the quality, workmanship and attention to detail. The riser covers and closing flaps are superb. The hardwear is the finest I've seen. The velcro-less toggles are so much more advanced than the competitors. I will give another review once I get 100 jumps on the container. Until then if anyone has specific questions about the rig, please email me and I would be happy to help you out.

Contrary to Cliff, I have nothing but good things to say about my V3. It was custom made very well. Exactly how I wanted it. I have never had anything come open in freefall with this rig. Its like a rock. Definately a great buy. Better riser protection than a Mirage. Can't argue with that!

I have put about 200 jumps on a Vector III (V344) and can only say that I have never had a flap come open on this container, and have put it through every type of (planned and unplanned) manuever that I can think of. Bridle protection is outstanding, with less than 1/2 inch straight-line exposure on mine. It is comfortable to wear and rock solid in freefall performance. If there are shortcomings, I have not noticed them.

The Vector is a fantastic container - I've jumped with it from beginner AFF to freeflyer and I have NEVER had any problem with it - including riser, reserve performance, etc.

After visting both competing manufacturers in Deland (RW and Mirage) I can honestly say that Relative Workshop is here to stay with it's impressive factory, friendly staff (Bill Booth took the time out to talk at length with AFF students about his new tandem rig and the Micron) and proffesionalism.

The Mirage G3 is a nice rig though - I've jumped it many times and is VERY similar to the Vector.

My Vector 3 has given me solid deployment performance. My only concern is my reserve flap opens frequently in flight - belly and sit, My rigger mentioned the reserve tab as too short. I'll soon get a fix for it.

The Vector is a very good rig. Jeff Johnson really produced a top design for Vector all those years ago. But since then he joined Mirage and has produced the Mirage G1, G2, and now the G3, which is currently known as the best rig on the market. If you like the Vector III, then you will LOVE the Mirage G3!

Ive heard it often "Any rig made today is as good as the other!" . After seeing pin covers flop open in the cramped spaces of jump planes , riser covers smacking someones head in freefall, and bridal cords being exposed to anything that will snag them from the edge of a seat to the flailing arms and legs that result from the occasional funnel .I have to disagree! One rig is not as good as the other! In a sport as equiptment dependent as skydiving it is stupid not to utilize the safest designs that the industry has to offer ,like pin covers that do not come open or bridal cords that have little or no exposure. Mr Booth has been building ,improving and making innovations on harness/container systems longer then most and the vector 3 is the result. Compare it feature by feature with every harness/container system on the market and you will soon know why the vector 3 should be on your back.

Clearly the best rig I have ever owned. Having worked on drop zones and for manufacturers as a packer and rigger apprentice, I have packed and jumped almost every canopy/container combination currently available. The Vector III is the best constructed, most practical container for todays skydiving demands. The pin flaps, riser covers, and BOC bridle protection flap are very much integrated and fully functional parts of the rig; not afterthoughts added to an existing design, like other manufacturers have done. The Relative Workshop has a longstanding reputation in our sport and their products and customer service speak for why that is so. I used to be a Javelin jumper. Now, the Vector III is the only rig for me.
