Fit,, Comfort, Durability, Customer Service, etc...........
It's up there in price, but worth every penny; will last for years.

Mirage was my first rig, then after downsizing I moved on to an Icon. After about a year, I decided to go back to Mirage. The fit, comfort, customer service (Ward Hessig), safty features, and just overall quality. You name it, it has it.

Comfort, Quality construction, Customer service, Nice looking
I don't think there are any

I have had my G4 now for 3 months, all I can say is I love it. Super comfortable, tight, all kinds of safty features. The rig was a bit on the pricy side, but you get what you pay for.

Customer service, fit, comfort, design
I'll let you know if I find any

I've been jumping 19 years, and I've jumped a lot of gear in that time. I do primarily AFF, and like to keep my mind on the student, and not worry about my gear. I did a lot of research before buying a new harness, my 1st in 6 years, and I settled with a Mirage G4.

The customer service I received was exceptional. Delivery was in 4 weeks, as promised. Every option I requested came exactly as ordered. The fit is, in a word, perfect.

As I assembled the rig, I became more and more aware of the detail and thought that had gone into the design of individual components. I was very impressed with the risers, and the facility to stow excess brake line - particularly after reading PD's article on "Control Systems Malfunctions Information Sheet."

Every aspect of the rig, from the freefly puff, (option) bridle protection, pin protection, internal riser covers, riser protection, elasticised lateral support, padded back pad, fit, comfort, split main bag - all impressed me immensely.

Understandably, almost all those who have paid good money for gear are impressed with what they receive. If you're contemplating a Mirage G4, I suspect you're doing so for very specific reasons.

I don't think the G4 has "everyone" appeal, and has been accused of looking "blocky" by my peers prior to delivery. Mine is an "MT" sized medium for a Tempo 120, Stiletto 107, and looks fairly slim to me, but I guess that would be true of most smaller rigs.

If you're thinking G4, mail [email protected] and get hold of Justin. It's the right thing to do.

6 months and 250 dives have passed since I wrote this review. My G4 looks perfect, abd feels even better than the day I got it. I'm truely happy with my choice!

Fits and flies like a dream
Expensive

After jumping a used Mirage G3 for my first 400 skydives, I received my new G4 4 weeks after placing my order. That means that four weeks after sending the order form through the fax machine, the rig was in my living room. It's an MXS-1/2, with a Stiletto 97 and PD113 reserve with Cypres. It's my first custom rig, and since I'm 5'4" and weigh about 105 pounds soaking wet, this is the first rig that has ever fit me perfectly. That bias revealed, I like this rig for a lot of reasons. Every detail on this piece of equipment has been thought out to the fullest.

The risers with velcro-less toggles are the best I've ever seen. Hard housings for stowing excess cable ensure that if I need to cut away a spinning main, I will have no problem doing so. The toggles tuck securely into the risers with tabs at the top and in the middle, making them easy to grab after deployment without worrying about a premature brake release. There are convenient loops to put the excess brake line away after stowing the toggles.

Pin coverage of both main and reserve is unsurpassed. One improvement from my old Mirage is that with the shorter reserve pin flap, coverage is just as secure but allows for an easier pin check without fumbling to tuck the flap back in. I ordered the hackey handle for my pilot chute, and even though I do a lot of freeflying I feel secure with this design that I will not have a premature opening.

The back pad--wow. At first I noticed that it felt really comfortable in the air and on the ground walking out to boarding point. Last weekend, it occurred to me that I was enjoying my landings a lot more than usual, and realized that it's because of the way the rig sits on my back after opening. It makes flying and landing my canopy a whole new experience.

The shape of this rig is less square than the G3, tapered at the bottom, and actually packs more easily with the split deployment bag. I got the full options with the Unisyn harness, which I love and recommend. I have never felt as mobile in the air as I do with this harness. It has actually made a difference in my flying. More importantly, my confidence in the care, testing, and improvements that go into Mirage products let me focus on my jumping.

Mirage customer service is incredible. After plenty of phone calls with Justin and Trisha, while I was in both South Africa and the USA, I was more than impressed with how I was treated as a customer. No question was too stupid for a prompt and thorough reply, both on the phone and by email. Last week I got a follow-up call from Kim to see how I like the rig. That's a long-distance call, to my South African cell phone. When she missed me on the first try, she left a message and called back a few days later. Truly international service, too. No 3am "whoops, I didn't realize what time zone you were in" calls.

This purchase did something that made the money totally worth it: it eliminated gear fear.

Even if you go for fewer options and opt for the non-articulated harness, the Mirage G4 is a lot of rig (and peace of mind) for the money.

The quality construction, every option selected came exactly as ordered, fit and performance
Split deployment bag and main canopy fits a bit "tight"

When I ordered this rig I knew it was a bit "pricey", but I had seen one that was delivered to a friend and I was really impressed with the quality of the construction and fit. I owned a Javelin previously which was ok, but this rig is sweet. The articulated Unisyn setup is very comfortable both on the ground and in the air. I too got excellent feedback from Justin at Mirage on the issue of the tight fit of the main which he insured me was fine and would allow "downsizing" if I go that route. I certainly was pleased with the delivery time(6 weeeks) and glad of my purchase after about some of the delays with other manufacturers. As far as packing this container I still use a pro-packing technique ala Scott Miller of PD and it works great. I had to get used to the "extra" stows on the D-bag and I also lengthened the closing loop by 5/16" to help with the main. You can't go wrong with this setup, quality, performance, and freefly safety built in. Money well spent!

Everything
None

I received my new G4 last week - this was 4 to 5 weeks after I placed my order. Mirage's customer service exceeds all expectations - they answered about a 100 questions and always called me back the same day if I had to leave a message. Justin and Trisha provided me with a customer service experience that was 100% satisfactory.

Now for the rig: the main closing flap is rock solid, I don't think I will ever worry about a horse shoe malfunction. The free fly handle concels the pilot chute, so no more early deployments. The tuck tabs on the riser covers are easy to "tuck" and don't come undone. I am sorry, but I have nothing bad to say about this rig.

A person at my dropzone has a G3 without a backpad and was amazed when he put the G4 on. The backpad and the wrap around construction make the rig feel like an extension of your body. I cannot say enough about the comfort of this rig.

Comfort, Safety, Looks, Functionality, Short wait time!
A tad pricey but you surely get what you pay for.

I have just received my Mirage G4 a couple of weeks ago. I have owned Sunpath products my whole Skydiving career of about 10 years. I was hesitant to switch but a nearly 6 month wait for a new Odyssey had me frustrated. I had alway's wanted a Mirage but just could not justify spending that kind of money. Well now that Mirage has all sorts of deals it was time to take the plung. First off, I wish I would have spent the money years ago with Mirage. The rig is so incredibly comfortable that you don't even feel like you have it on. I can't believe how this rig fits!!! Also, it seems to me that going over the features on the rig if you are a freeflyer this is with no question the absolute best rig on the market. And as far as looks go it is the most streamline, beautiful container I have ever owned. Well they say it is never too late and I would strongly recommend to anyone to just go try one and I guarantee you'll be sold. I still love and own 2 Odyssey's and never want to rip on Sunpath but as far as comfort goes I have to say the Mirage is the surefire winner. I'm actually thankful that Sunpath has that kind of a wait otherwise I would of had 3 Odysseys and never known how great the Mirage truely is. Anyhow, I strongly recommend this container.
