Although many long time jumpers remember the Mirage harness/container system from the early 1980's, the current system has been entirely designed from the ground up to represent the state-of-the-art in harness / container design. Our latest version truly represents all we know about rig design, and all that a select group of highly experienced staffers and associates have to say about making the safest, most functional and comfortable rig ever offered. We did this so you can spend your skydiving time having fun, not worrying if your equipment is going to perform. When you exit, you're putting a lot of faith in your gear. We take that very seriously.

Fit, features, safety, looks
I don't own two

My first Mirage is my fourth rig, after 3 Javelins. Being a packer, I had the chance to see and touch many rigs and jump some as well.

At first I had problems with the leg straps, they hurted when I was under canopy. Then I realised, I needed not to tighten them so much. Now my G3 feels like an angel hugging you.

I'm very happy with it and I hope my next rig isn't a G3, but a G4 =)

Looks, style, fit, customer service, time to make, everything
Nothing at all

Just got back from a trip to Deland and Z-Hills. I took delivery of my new container while in DeLand. They arranged the rigging for me so I could drop it off Friday night and jump it the very next. This was 5 days earlier than the rig was supposed to be ready but they made it happen sooner so I could jump it while in Florida, and didn't charge me any extra! The container is beautiful, they know how to build them at Mirage. The fit is the best I could ever imagine. The people there are the greatest, they respond to you no matter how much you check up on them and are very helpful every step of the way. Go Mirage!

Comfort, Safety, Looks
Time to make and send

Although I was told it would be ready in 3 weeks and it took 10, I forgot about the delay as soon as I put it on my back. It felt like an extension of my own body and I could not be happier. My first jump with it was my smoothest jump thus far. *Possible buyers beware of the color picker on Mirage's website, the colors do not come out exactly the same as shown, but nevertheless they come out looking great and very sharp. Thanks Mirage.

great for freefly
reserve flap on older mirage

alrite i absolutely love my mirage g3. it was made back in 98 so it's a little older, but it's still great. the only problem i have found with it is that both my reserve is really soft in the container (PDR 160 in a M4) and my reserve flap has come open a few times while freeflying. however overall this rig is amazingly comfortable (even not being articulated) great for freefly or RW and my absolute favorite system.

Started out as a great product
Changed design, Model, and reserve/Cypress System

I bought a new Mirage in late 98'. When I ordered it the "free-fly" mod was an option for the "Mirage". G3's and G4's were not marketed yet. Since then the Mirage has given way to the G3. My rig is identical, however it is now severely devalued. The reserve deployment system was designed to accomodate the Cypres and similar AAD's. There was nothing wrong with the system yet we all had to send our rigs in to have the cypres /reserve deployment system modified. I applaud Mirage for doing this pro-bono but I still had to disassemble my rig and pay the shipping. Now there is a huge gap and unsightly bulge in my system where the modification was done. So......Mirage says the riggers aren't packing efficiently. This is enough of a problem that Mirage offers a new pilot chute with a sunken top so there is no bulge. Of course this is $100 and not a replacement but simply an aid to make their modification look normal again. My rig works great, is very comfortable, and is completely functional, but if I am paying nearly $2K for another harness and container I am going to go with a system that does not change so much in a few years. I'm going with a Vector, Infinity, or Javelin. In that order....

Everything
Nothing

Well I just got my new G-3 and all I can say is I am trully impressed. It is gorgeous and I cannot wait to jump it. The fit is perfect, the articulation is outstanding and the comfort is unmatched.Compared to my old rig it is 100 times better. The riser covers, hip rings, rsl and hardware all look great and the construction is flawless. Thanks Mirage and I look forward to years of owning a Mirage.

Comfort/workmanship/price
Ill let you know when i find one

I bought a custom G3 brand new with fully articulated harness and all stainles and chest and hip rings.

I got a great deal because the g4 just came out.

The rig is everything I expected and more. Very well made. It feels heavy, but i have big canopies in there (210 hornet main).

Everyone says that mirage is expensive, but with a little smart consumerism, you can find a great deal. I got my g3 for about 1700 (with all the options).

Check one out, you will be glad you did!

Safety, Outstanding Construction!! Fit, Comfort,
None whatsoever

After demo/renting gear for way too long, the research began on purchasing. I looked at every type of rig I could find with a solid eye. If there was someone packing a rig I hadn't seen, I would look at: pin protection, riser coverings, handle placement, strap configs., etc. I recommend admiring the following features on a Mirage: Pin Protection - flawless, solid. Riser protection - inside and out. Nobody has had to re-stow my risers, or tuck in my brake handles on the plane EVER. The bridle stays in it's channel always, the hard cutaway housings are complete, the chest strap is thick, the harness rings are padded, and my rigger said Mirage has the fastest pilot chute ejection speed he is aware of - he jumps Javelin and says he is impressed by my rig. The backpad, the custom fit, and the harness points are super comfortable. The rig is SOLID. I jump at a DZ where the pros tell you to buy Javelin because they are sponsored by Sun Path. I bought the Mirage despite the resistance due to the research I conducted on my own. I still got a great deal and the cost was only slightly higher than other rigs I was interested in. And Skydiving is not a sport where you go cheap on equipment!!! The G4 looks to be even more comfortable, if I was buying right now, I would get a G3 for the remarkable deals going on. Have fun, fly fast, and enjoy.

My name is Dave and my skydiving background is pretty simple. I have been actively skydiving for 3+ years and have around 1200 jumps. Most of my skydiving for the past two years has been as an AFF instructor.
In these three years I have owned a lot of gear. I have owned 8 containers. Four of them were/are Mirages and I have loved each one. I have owned other major brand container systems when downsizing or to just try other manufacturers' latest and greatest product to see if it is better than what I already have. I can own any brand I want. Mr. Pennington summed this philosophy up best in one of his canopy reviews when he stated that he has no ass to kiss nor ax to grind. Same here. The major brands on the market are all of very good quality and reputation. With today's selection it is basically up to the customer to decide what he or she is looking for. I personally keep going back to Mirages.
The biggest thing that keeps me in Mirages is the amazing customer support and service that the Mirage folks extend to the customer. I have visited the Mirage factory twice. In both visits I was made to feel extremely welcome despite just showing up with no notice from North Carolina. All of my questions have always been entertained. This includes the myriad of silly questions that one thinks up on rainy non-jumping days. No matter how trivial, Mirage has taken the question seriously and always gotten me an answer. The most interesting thing I need to note about this company is the confidence that they have in their product. In all the times that I have spoken with Mirage personnel (about 50+ emails, conversations and 12+ hours hanging around in the shop), they have never, not even once, said a single thing bad about another manufacturer's product. It is a classy company that obviously does not have to impress someone by taking down another product. Unfortunately, I can not say the same about another rig manufacturer. It is too bad because they have one of the more popular systems on the market.
The guys at Mirage have gone through great lengths to make my rigs fit well. It amazes me how comfortable they are. If I had any doubt at all about the sizing or fit they would do a correction on the spot! They did this for me twice. Once in the shop and once through the mail in under a week.
I can go on for days about the customer service and dedication that Mirage is committed to. In a nutshell:
1. The Mirage is an extremely well thought out rig.
2. Mirage stands behind their product.
3. Mirage goes out of their way to treat a customer with dignity and respect.
4. Mirage goes to great extremes to ensure that the product is right.
5. Mirage does not have to bad mouth other manufaturers' products to build trust or confidence in their product. Very adult.

I do 1000 camera jumps a year and 200 jumps ago I donned the Mirage. Its superb!! In this time I have had a bag lock mal (my fault) and the cutaway/reserve deployemnts were quick and smooth. I love the idea of hard housings in the risers. No doubt this rig is well made and well thought out for today skydiving - some great features that make me feel confident in my choice of gear. I have chosen a M1 size container with a PD143 resereve, which is the max size for the rig. Because of this I have a relatively small rig, but the compromise comes in the form of a firm packed reserve that perhaps doesn't mold to you as well as a smaller reserve or larger container might. NOTE: This is not a ctizisim of the rig, just an observation of reserve size v container. I guess it just feels a bit more "blocky" than my old rig which was bigger with a similar sized reserve. Lessons learnt - Follow the rigs packing manual closely. I beleive my recent Mal was caused by me not making sure that the stows decrease in size as you reach your last stow (one looped through the other). Also the manual suggests that for asthetic reasons it is good to place the D bag in the tray "lines first" and then pivot the grommet side down into the tray. I beleive this is very important and also helps make sure that unstowed line is not caught around any stows. You can monitor the free-line easier if you put the bag in this way. Plus, Mirage are right it fills the bottom of the container better. State of the art rig and well made!!

What can I say? Mirage simply makes the best rig out there. Straight up. Given it is the first rig I have owned. I only have 60 jumps. I jumped javelins as a student and the confort level does not even compare to the Mirage. And it gives the freedom to do any type of flying I choose without having to worry about anything coming undone. Very solid construction and excellent bridle and pin protection. Sometimes I just sit and admire how damn cool the rig looks.

One thing, if you are choosing your colors over the internet with their interactive color chart, keep in mind that the colors do not match what you see on the computer. I was a little dissapointed with the way mine turned out at first, but it quickly grew on me. I must thank Andy McCormack and Sandi DiNapoli at A&B Rigging AKA Parachute Rigging, in Florida for convincing me to switch from a Javelin to a Mirage. It simply rocks!

I have about 50 jumps on the Mirage G3 and it is the most comfortable rig I ever jumped. From someone with several hundreds of jumps on various Atoms, Vectors as well as a few tens of jumps on Javelins.

I bought my Mirage G3 a month ago, one week before Quincy. All I have to say is I love it! it performes greater than expectations and looks excellent after 50+ jumps. the only complaint I have is that the main deployment bag seems too large for my canopy, which is at the small end of the reccomended size. If I had to do it again I would spend the extra money and buy the Mirage G3- without a doubt. Even the guys and gals at the DZ who have bought other high priced containers now look at my Mirage and wonder if they made the right choice! I only have my rigger Kevin Naftzger and Rob Tonnesen at PD Source to thank for recomending the G3.

I don't even have my Mirage yet and I can hardley wait!!! 4 more weeks and I should be all set up. The personel @ Mirage were very helpful and took the time to explain all the features. I have had the opportunity to demo the G3 and I fell in love with it.

It might be the most expensive but it is the best rig on the market. And anyone who demos it will vouch for that.... T - 4 weeks and counting :)

The Mirage is the ultimate skydiving tool. The main and reserve pins are firmly protected and the flaps WILL NOT OPEN until YOU open them. Unlike many other so-called modern rigs whos flaps are wide open and slapping the skydiver in the back from exit to deployment! This is the rig to own for freeflying, skysurfing, freestyle, and any other demanding skydiving activity where you need total assurance of safety and performance. I just took delivery of my second tie dye G3 and I'm absolutely delighted! The Mirage comes with so many standard safety features, such as secondary riser covers, armored risers for clean cut aways, awesome bridle protection (zero exposure), and a tight BOC pouch that doesn't wear out prematurely. Another very cool feature is it's modular construction to ease field replacement of many components by your local rigger. That means if you biff in hard enough to damage your Mirage (tough to do-trust me), your rigger can most likely swap out the damaged parts quickly and have you back in the air within days instead of weeks or months!

The Mirage is the best rig on the market, bar none. Yes, it's also the most expensive, but you know the old adage..."You get what you pay for."

Warm Blue Skies! -Rob :)

The Mirage G3 is the most comfortable rig I've tried on yet. This rig was well designed and constructed. I've had back surgery a few years back and wearing other rigs all day use to wear me out. The G3 with the back pad option and hip rings finally gave me a rig I can last all day in. The folks at Mirage were very helpful and quick to reply to all my questions. This rig is very easy to pack, and with its protective flaps and tuck tabs just about bullet proof when freeflying. Two Thumbs Up For The Mirage G3!!

I bought a Mirage G3 last year. It was my third rig. When I took it out of the box I was immediately impressed with the quality of the rig. It was easy to tell that it was made with great care. After I had my canopies packed into it and put it on I knew immediately that I had made the right choice with the Mirage. It is the most comfortable rig I've ever had on. The first time I was under canopy in it confirmed this.

Everyone at my drop zone was impressed with it. (it was the first on the drop zone) Great workmanship, great looking rig, and the most comfortable, what else do you want in a rig.

Blue Skies.

Sure the new Mirage is pretty, but all those extra stiffeners and flaps in the reserve container make it "busy" to pack.

I've only placed a few jumps on my new G3, but I must honestly say it is by far the most comfortable rig I've jumped in my short career of skydiving. The leg strap geometry just feels different.

The riser covers, bridle protection, and general construction of the rig make this one of the safer and more visually appealing rigs on the market.

I can summarize the Mirage G3 in one word AWESOME!!!. My G3 is the most comfortable rig I have ever jumped. It fits like no other, and it is equally comfortable in the plane, in freefall, and under canopy. No pinching or pulling that I have experienced with other rigs. The G3 has all of the qualities I am looking for in a rig.

**Functionality - It did what it was supposed to everytime. Everything stays put in freefall. Very secure. Excellent bridle protection which is especially important for freeflying.

**Comfortable - As mentioned above.

**Great workmanship - Mirage didn't scrimp on a thing here. This thing is going to last for a long time.

** Appearance - It just looks good...

** Excellent customer service - The people at Mirage are very helpfull and knowledgeable about their product. Just overall cool people.

** Ease of use - Both main and resevre are easy to pack (I haven't packed the reserve yet, but my rigger said it was cake).

Try one, you will like it. Blue Skies...

After owning a VectorII for over 8 years I was reluctent to change, but our staff was getting new matching gear and majority ruled and we all got new Mirage G3's. I was surprised. The rig is clean and crisp and smooth. I have no idea what magic they did to this rig - but wow. The way it fits the lower back is super. I had thought that fatique was part of what wearing a rig was about - - not so with my Mirage. Having started working on a Riggers ticket I was very pleased with the design of the reserve container portion of the rig. I have grown to hate Javelins fo the odd angle of attack of the pilotchute, but when my Mirage is repacked, it looks smooth and neat and was very easy to close. Under canopy it is very comfortable and really feels like a part of me and never restictive or painful.
