Price. Volume. Ease of use.
No auto shutoff. Some times activates during normal canopy flight.

Great audible altimeter. At first it seemed cumbersome to configure, but there's really not much to it and simple to use. Good and loud. Fits securely in the Cookie Fuel. On the ground, there's no visual indicator to tell you it's on. As a result I've packed it away a few times forgetting to turn it off. Stayed on for over a week. Manufacturer says it's not a problem because it uses very little battery when left on and idle. In the air after passing 1,000ft you'll get some beeps and the ready light will blink letting you know its activated. It's gone off twice under canopy during normal glide. Not really a big deal though. Just caught me by surprise a little. configurable for 1 to 3 altitudes. I have mine set for 2. If all you need is 3 alarms and are fine with increments of 500ft, this is the audible for you.

Light, small, suitably loud, long battery life, top class service
Feet, sometimes goes off under canopy

This little device is a nice complement to my alitmeter, I set the signals to go off just below break and preferred pull altitude, as well as hard deck for reserve deployment. I often forget to turn it off during the week, but have yet to run out of batteries.
The dytter does sometimes go off during manouvers under canopy (Spectre 150), but I don't find that distracting.

The case cracked last year, and L&B replaced it to me for free. I've heard similarly great things about their customer service from many others, and if/when I feel the need for a digital hand alti, it will be an L&B.

Price, very easy and quick to adjust
For me not loud enough, only feet

I do like the Solo II. It's very easy and quick to adjust. The cons i see in this product are that the scale is just in feet. I'm just to meters so it's kind of a mindswitch and a little bit harder to figure out the exact altitute if you jump with other guys. My bigger problem is that i think that the Solo is not loud enough. I often overhear the first alarm and only hear the second when my parachute just openend. This might be because my helmet isn't very isolated against the wind noise. But overall a very useful device i really recommend, especially if you just started skydiving.

Easy to read, small, wrist band holder, price
Impossible to navigate through for a normal person

Love it, i would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a digital altimeter. The only thing i don't like is the navigation through the unit, its very convoluted and hard to use.

Value for the money, "under the hood"
Unintuitive UI, only feet

The Solo II is a newly released, entry level audiable from L&B. Under the hood, it has some very sophisticated software and instruments, the altimeter is very precise, and it does exactly what it's supposed to do. And you can't beat the price (I got mine really cheap).

For the right person, the Solo II is possibly the greatest purchase ever. However, for myself, the cons are pretty big. You can only set the unit in feet, not meters, which complicate some jumps with friends who set their audiable in meters. And the Solo II has an interface that's quite difficult to work with (after 80 jumps with it, I still have to lookup in the manual how to change the warning signals without turning the unit off afterwards).

One jump I set off the 3rd alarm by doing a 360 under canopy. That was a surprise! Especially since I jump a very big canopy (210 sqft).

All in all, I'd say the Solo II is great value for the money if you are American, or jump in another country where everyone use feet anyway. If you live in say Europe, think a while if you want to live with it. I myself will probably get an Optima II when I can afford it :)

Everything, Customer Service
None

I bought a Solo off of Dropzone.com, and as soon as I got it out of the package, I dropped it. So I emailed them about ordering a new case for it, and they said just mail it in, and we'll fix it free of charge, all they did was just send a brand new one back.

Couldn't have been happier.
Thanks alot guys!

Doe's exactly what says on the box
Won't work for swooping

This toy is perfect if you have budget in mind or if you're only starting... It's dead accurate and quite loud. Specially if you don't read the warning "don't try close to ear on land"...

It won't go off if you're not free falling, so it won't indicate altitude if flying under canopy... If you're looking for an audible, that tells you where you are vertically while approaching, go for a Optima II.

Otherwise, this is just perfect. Very EZ to use and setup.

Enjoy!

Accurate, loud, ease of use
None

I've put about 25 jumps on my Solo II and just love the added altitude awareness. I like the ease of use and the set and forget simplicity. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a simple to use, no frills audible.

Dependable and loud
Only will do 500 feet increments

I bought my SoloII when I began to Free Fly, needed and audible. With a little over a 140 jumps, it has been amazing, always reliable and have yet to change the battery. However, was at a boogie last week and somehow it cracked in my helmet. Not sure how, but it did. I emailed L&B and within an 30 minutes got a reply back. I am mailing it in to get it fixed for free. Over all, having the 3 altitude reminders is great, but only 500 ft increments. Over all, love it but not sure why it broke.
