Works for WS, tons of info.
no canopy alarms.

Overall its a great little guy that has tons of info an options, if you like numbers and stats then you'll love this thing. The logbook and freefall timer are great. HOWEVER, if I could go back I would get a lower end audible that has 2 alarm sets (FF and canopy) and a wrist alti like the N2 that does the logging and info.

Records lots of info
none so far

It takes a few minutes to familiarize oneself with navigating this wonderful little device, with just the two buttons. But, there's a quickstart menu guide that is SO helpful! I'm a rookie jumper and quite paranoid about altitude awareness, and that's why I decided to purchase this. The only bad thing I notice is that during RW jumps, I tend not to look at my wrist as often...
Anyway, this is a great product and it fits perfectly into my Cookie G2 helmet.

It does well what it is made for, correct, clear, good support
none, so far

Last September I bought two of them, but a few days later I discovered that one was not performing well and it was difficult to close the battery slot.
I wrote L&B about that and they asked me to ship to their office.
In just a week I got a new one back, working perfectly.
I was using a Pro-Track before I lost it in freefall, I am still using it satisfactorily and I will keep using it in the future.
Thanks guys, it's powerful!

Customer Service,reliable,Customer Service,Customer Service
none

These guys are in Denmark, and their response time is about 4 days. I do AFF, Video and 4way. For the first 2 I cannot afford an instrument mal. I have been on an AFF where the other instructors visual altimeter failed (another popular brand). I can set custom warning levels depending on what kind of dive I am doing. a great feature. It's a great product, just ordered an optima.

Loud, Accurate, Great for speed comparisons, Easily mountable with clip included.
Programming, Buttons, Turns off too fast, No canopy warnings

Just got my pro-track that i just "HAD" to buy so i could "upgrade" from my gfx and have a way to mount on the outside of my helmet. Unfortunatley what i got was a smaller but less user friendly device than i had really wanted to deal with. the initial programming you do for setting up any new audible/computer was impossible without the instructions and the device shut itself off at least 10 times while setting things up. after the intial shock of "clunky user interface", i was happy to know it beeped at 1k feet to confirm it's on and remind me to take off my seatbelt. the warnings are loud and distinct and always on time even on the outside of my hurricane helmet. the other major reason why i miss the skytronic gfx is because this audible does not have any canopy warning sirens. this is a major turn off when you are comfortable with at least 1 siren telling you not to turn or manuever below a chosen altitude. overall, i would say if you have to go with an outside mount, the purchase is a must...if not go with the gfx or neptune..both are more bang for your buck.

Accurate Recording of information
Not intuitive to set some options or features

As an audible altimeter this performs just as someone would expect: When you reach the easily programmed altitudes in freefall, it beeps at you. Also accurately records freefall times and speeds, a nice feature. Only downside is if you make a hop n pop, you need to freefall 5 seconds or so first to activate it to record that jump.

Well Worth the investment BUY ONE you will be happy
Batteries are expensive (not happy about their shelf life)

Took a while to learn the user end...would like to see the manual a little more streamlined for us challenged techno dummies but the device has exceeded it's expectations....I highly encourage everyone to purchase it. The Batteries are on the expensive end but the tradeoff is a device you can count on...an NY buddy and I swap pictures all the time on who is doing what in the jump world...this time no bogus claims (on his end of course) we have documented proof of freefall accuracy.

Reliable, tough, accurate
Quirky user Interface, expensive batteries

The Pro-Track is an audible altimeter and electronic log-book. While no longer the latest generation (Optima, Viso & Altitrack are newer), it works extremely well and is excellent value.

Its primary shortcoming is the expensive batteries it uses. The user interface will take a few minutes to get used to, but once learned is easy to navigate.

Recommended.

everthing but mostly service!!!!
Absolutely nothing, well worth the price!!1

Got mine about 40 jumps ago, and won't jump without it, this said it was defective when I got it, altitude alarms worked but all stats were way wrong, i tried all settings to correct, and the gave up and just used it for alarms, hesitant to email or send it off because its my only audible, well i finally emailed l&B and told them the story and they are sending me a brand new one!! And then I can send the old one back.. These guys aren't playing and they are pure capitalists either. They are for the sport and for us, Buy one BUy two you will be pleased..

Reliable product and great customer service
None

As a novice, bought my first aud alti, the pro track, for my open face helmet a few months back. Deciding to do more rel work and buy a full face helmet thought it would be a bit painful to change to housing round from the two helmets every so often. Emailed Larsen and Brusgaard with this and also asked where to get more elastic bands for the protrack. Within a day they indicated they would send me another housing component for the protrack and some elastic bands - FREE. Received within a couple of weeks multiple housings, numerous rubber bands and spare batteries! These guys are absolutely awsome! Thanks Larsen and Brusgaard!!!!

Terrific backup if you lose focus
See the review; not a 'Con' just a bit of information

Just a word of information.

It takes the ProTrack about 7 seconds, according to Mads Larsen, to decide that it is involved in a jump and to begin recording it.

I am a student and recently did my 'hop and pop'. The ProTrack recorded nothing! Apparently I exited, got stable and deployed to inflation all in under 7 seconds. Hooray for me, but.. If you do this sort of stuff, the ProTrack will not assist you.

After such a jump, you need to advance the jump count on the logbook screen and add a few seconds to the accumulated freefall time, if you wish. Mads indicates that JumpTrack will accept all of this. I haven't checked yet.

I was massively impressed by a personal, weekend response from Mads to my inquiry about what had happened. Would that other firms took customer service anywhere near as seriously.

I have no intention of ever jumping without a ProTrack!

Great customer service
none

I bought one of these last year and loved it.(I stll love it). I had some problem with keeping the two rubber buttons in their holes. I finally lost on completely. I wrote a letter to the dealer where I bought it, (Skykat) and they in turn passed it on to L&B. The next day I got a really nice letter from Mads at L&B asking me to send the unit back. O GOD .... I won't see it for months or years!! I had my Pro Track back in less than 4 weeks!!!(with extra batteries!!) By the way .. L&B now have lower profile buttons, which do not protrude like the originals. I guess I was not alone with this problem. Overall an excellent product and usefull in many ways. OUTSTANDING after sales support from L&B. ****************************************************************************************

Update Aug 09, 2004

I lost the little springs while replaceing the batteries. I wrote Mads and not more than a week later (Denmark - canada) I had 2 complete new covers (cover/springs/screws) and 2 new sets of batteries!!! NEVER >>>>> NEVER >>>>> NEVER ..... have I seen (or heard of) this level of service and care!!!!!!

BUY ONE AND BE HAPPY!!! ;-))

Thanks again L&B

Display, log book, air speed,
Complicating menus

I have had a Por Track for the past three years. I recently broke the LCD display on the front of the unit.

I emailed the company to tell them I wanted to service the Altimeter since it was actually a very good peice of equipment and would hate to have to go buy another one. They responded to the email that day telling me to send it back for repairs and there would be no charge for the repairs.

I sent it back and received a brand new ProTrack within a week of sending off the original broken unit.

These guys are a true professional company. I expected to at least pay for the replacement or work performed on the broken Pro Track. Instead they were nice enough to give me one free of charge.

Thank you Larsen and Brusgaard.

Awesome Product, Unsurpassed Customer Service
Don't see any

Amazing that such a renovative product comes from a small town in Denmark. This is a feature packed product that makes keeping track of your jump details a snap.
Their customer service is unsurpassed. They go above and BEYOND. On their service history alone, this makes then a 5 star rated vendor!

Great product, great features, INCREDIBLE customer service
Not simple to use the more obscure features

First, L&B has the BEST customer service of ANY company I have EVER dealt with. No room for improvement, they are 100% perfect in this regard.

The PRO TRACK is a fine product with features galore. Some of the more obscure features are hard to use unless you have the manual with you, but the basic features (jump logging and audible altitude alarm settings) are very easy. The Pro Track is worth every penny. The computer interface and logging software is fun and useful, but not essential.

I have bought every product L&B has made and have never regretted a single purchase. These guys set the standard for product support. You simply cannot believe how customer focused they are.

Unheard of customer service
None

These guys are great. Their product performs perfectly and they have customer service that is unparalleled. Once you get a pro-track you will have your audible for the rest of your jumping career. I tend to be rough on my gear, and have broken two pro-tracks, but both times L&B sent me a new one with no questions asked.

Life saving device. Loud and alerting.
Small and easy to lose.

I don't know how I did my training jumps without one of these. They are a god send for those jumps you may not look at your alti often enough. It is very accurate and loud enough to bring you back to reality in the middle of an intense freefly jump. If you don't have one of these with you, you should definetely get one. Also, L&B customer service is 2nd to none.

Good display of information, easy to use.
Can be too loud if not careful.

First off, I bought this on reputation of the product and reputation of legendary customer support. I didn't even look at another product and I wasn't surprised how fast I got accustomed to my Pro-Track. I've had mine now for over 6 months and depend on it as an essential tool for my jumping (in addition to my wrist altimeter). To date, it has worked every time I've used it.

The Pro-Track is easy to use, but make sure you read the manual! The main display is self-explanatory. I wear a full-face Z1, which a quiet helmet to begin with and on my first jump with the Pro-Track, high-alarm volume was way too loud for me. The next jump I tried the low-volume setting and it was still too loud. I started wearing ear-plugs and using my Pro-Track on low-volume: Perfect. I recommend anyone to carefully try out the various volume settings and use common sense to protect their hearing.

The depth of functionality of the Pro-Track seems to me that it would cover every type of data that a jumper could want: True Airspeed, Skydiver Airspeed, different types of jumping formations, adjustable alarms, battery saving "ECO", date and time...and so-on and so-on!

Bottom line, this is a great device. It is well made, easy to use, and in my experience, very reliable.

The most superior of its kind.
Expensive but worth the money.

To make a long story short, I lost my Pro Track out of an old L&B leg mount strap and they replaced it no questions asked! They even shipped it to me at their cost. I don't know of any company for any product that would do something like that. Help L&B by NOT sharing but purchasing your own Jumptrack software!!

Friday the 11th of May on my second jump of the day, I got bitch-slapped by a riser. This slap cost me my Pro-Track. On Sunday the 13th of May I emailed L&B to tell them my sad story (with witness references), not expecting much, since my losing their product shouldn't really have been their problem. Boy, was I surprized when I got a reply less than two hours later from Mads Larsen saying that they were sending me a replacement free of charge!

Tuesday the 15th of May my new Pro-Track arrived, along with some stickers and a cloth patch. It is safe to say that I am now a VERY loyal L&B customer. Should I ever need to buy a second audible for camera or freeflying I know who I will be buying it from.

Thank you L&B!
