KrisFlyZ 0 #1 January 22, 2011 Has anyone used just the adhesive mount to get forward facing video? I will add some Duck tape just for safety but wondering how the adhesive mount worked at WS speeds?

Hellis 0 #3 January 22, 2011 Your saying that you get a higher speed in wingsuiting than freeflying or speeddiving?
BIRDDOCTOR 0 #4 January 22, 2011 I use a gopro with the curved mount on top of my helmet. Never had an issue with wingsuiting. Those mount a stronger than you think.Base# 1638
LukeH 0 #5 January 22, 2011 In some skydivers tests the plastic bracket broke before the adhesive gave way. I doubt duck tape is going to be an improvement.
mccordia 74 #6 January 22, 2011 Quote Your saying that you get a higher speed in wingsuiting than freeflying or speeddiving? Different angle on the mount (relative wind), and yea..I think my fastest speed in freefly is 180mph or so, in wingsuit Ive done 200+ in dives...JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete? likestojump 3 #8 January 22, 2011 got a GoPro at the end of 2010, about 50 WS jumps on it, no issues with the sticky mount.
MarkM 0 #9 January 22, 2011 The skin will peel away from your face long before that adhesive stuff on the mount fails. Really, the only issue you may have is the plastic mount where the camera "snaps" in is a little loose and can shake a bit if the direction of airflow against it changes a lot. You can fix that by adding some material to make that connection more snug.
Couloirman 0 #10 January 23, 2011 The adhesive itself is fine, but I have had several of my plastic brackets break (not exactly during a jump I dont think, but when your helmet gets knocked around cracks can develop that you dont notice until the camera falls off). The metal cookie mounts are bomber though. Yes, they are expensive but if it saves you from replacing even one GoPro then they are worth it.
yeyo 1 #11 January 23, 2011 I have that same helmet with the mount on that same place but I used the curved mount, it fits better than the flat mount. (more adhesive making contact with helmet). I guess I have maybe 100 WS jumps with the GoPro there and no problems.HISPA #93 DS #419.
KrisFlyZ 0 #12 January 23, 2011 Thanks for the replies guys. The mount worked like a charm(without any tape). Got to do a couple of jumps on the V3. The dummy(me) messed up and the Camera was in triple shot photo mode so all I got was pics of me trying to start the video recording .
steveorino 7 #13 January 23, 2011 I use it for WS and when I am an AFFI or IADI -- no problems so far steveOrino
TheCaptain 2 #14 January 24, 2011 The Z-1 open face is one of the worst designs made. I own one and it never is in the same place twice on several wing suit jumps it caught air and nearly started choking me. I would never consider putting a camcorder on one as you would have no idea where it was going to point. I love the Z1 full faced helmet but the open faced one sucksKirk He's dead Jim
