New PF Ripoff?

and don't forget Julian Boulle and the Sugar Glider before that ;)

If it wasn't for PF we would all still be jumping the S3.

If it wasn't for Tony we would all still be jumping the V3.

Competition drives things forward and enables us all to fly better :)

So why are we still flying flocks with fall rates that a newbie in a Classic II could achieve?

I can track with a fall rate of 80mph in a tight fitting RW suit. Flocking at 65 - 70mph fall rate seems a waste of wingsuit potential.

I love thread stray...:P

Flocking at 65 to 70 mph can be a joy as well, if its at balistic forward speeds. But yea...with feet on da butt style flying, that doesnt happen too often.
Granted, some flocks do poor speeds in both directions. Though its certainly not all flocks. More and more people are putting the power on it...

Without starting another country specific debate, there is part of this that is region specific.

I know I have to adjust my flying style considerably when jumping in flocks in the states. Sometimes I have to have my feet almost on my butt to save overshooting everyone else, which is not so much the case in Europe, and certainly not when you jump with the Finns!

45 would be perfect B|
but let's be honest - some cannot physically fall that slow, and also, I wouldn't keep back with my V3.. I'd be too far ahead of ya'll :P:)
(to be clear, I jump here with everyone, from the biggest to the smallest suits, including Intros... kind of hard to flock in 50s if some people are unable to max in 50s...)

You should give it a try. They definitely fly faster on the other side of the pond as a norm. Flying with the Finns is straight up killing it and a lot of fun.

What most visiting americans dont know is that the cameraman is equipt with a goalkeeper missile, and instructed to kill the slowest flyer. You bet your a$$ everyone puts on the speed:P

Actually, while I do have a Contour, it's not mounted to my helmet. The laser is to allow me to quickly sync my ring sight with my cameras while on the plane. In other words, the laser points to where the cameras point; if my ring sight gets jostled or moved, I can easily adjust it to where it should be.

You should get out more;)

Erm, well i guess that is tongue in cheek too - Mulder and Scully style - I have access to files that prove it ;) and have sent them to likiweaks.

Props to Andreas for the tunnel testing, IMO it's the future (like Jyro did with Icarus) - we just need to find the $$ to pay for the tunnel time.

The new suits are another step forward in glide ratio and also start flying faster, the performance comps and BASE jumps to date show that.

Flocking performance is another discussion all together...
