Summer boogie in France

Cool video.
A bit heavy on the music, but sweet images!
And cool 3D buildup of formations.

The 'French flying' is always being referenced by you as the example when people are complaining about bent legs in videos. And I agree, it IS nice to always see the legs stretched.
But reversing the comments, when will you guys start using the arm-wings more. A lot of forward speed is cool, but only makes for good glide if you fully fly the body. Not just the back part;) As in most flocks I see these days from those regions, the fallrates are quite fast/steep.

TrueB| it gives you forward speed

1- We like it this way
2- allows every one to be there despite their weight (no extra fabric needed)
3-more speed, more accurate

In most pictures he is flying with the wings flat, in full flight position.
Only when flying relative to a cameraguy (who doesnt have his skills) its usually the arms back.

Im not asking to be a wise-ass. But I heard several people comment on having to collaps almost all their wing to fly with the formation.

Ive flown with quite a few flocks in this style, so talking from experience. Not second guessing based on video. I like doing carving formations and dives. But also severly enjoy pushing wingsuits to their maximum.
Between legs up, and arms back, there is a perfect body position for long flights with great glide;)

I'd sure like to come fly with you all, but I'd also sure like to think that if PdG were still around, he'd be flying suits (still) for maximum flight value rather than being a lawn dart aiming for the ground with forward speed.
Some of us have no problem with the "down." It's the staying "up" that is the challenge.:) Put some armwing into it, it's like Viagra for the soul.

When you collaps your wings, I have the feeling it's due to too much drag...I experienced it with my Blade...
In Corbas, we increased the speed jump after jump, it was very interesting..! but difficult to stay in the Flock for large wing suits.

That depends on the method in which you collaps wings.
You can fold them back, with the wings as on tight surface. Or you can fold the wings into an arc (which creates plastic bags).

But if at any time during a flock you can take of (forward) relative to the formation, it means they are not flying their best.
Forward speeds may be high, but glide ratios on those jumps are usually minimal compared to normal full flight.

Its a different angle, but not one that flies very well. Just on that goes fast forward as well as fast down.

Thats only the view you have, being part of the group going down realy fast.
The people 'stuck behind' may seem like they are flying less, but if they continue flying at their 'slower' rate, their better glide ratio is taking them past the formation quite a distance.

With the intent being 'finding a speed that works for everyone' Id sure vote more armwing. High ground-speed is a far distance from a good glide. Thats the same problem you have in trackingderby, when focussing on furthest distance in a set amount of time.
Its not about the best glide, but about the highest groundspeed and exit altitude.

If that's how you like flying; TERRIFIC!!!! Great for you.
But please don't suggest the reason you do is because "That's how PdG flew." The discipline has evolved (I hope).
I've been to Europe once this year. And will be back in September. Hope to see you there this time!

Well, Spot, keep in mind they still have a bicycle that powers their jump plane - just like Clement Adler (or the Wright Brothers, depending on which story you prefer).

(I'm kidding... You French guys are great. I loved meeting you all in Elsinore two years ago... After all, how can you knock a country that came up with the French fry?)

Body position isn't "flying" as in past tense "flew?":)

"Deug" is an university degree in France (two years studies)
"Deg" is the nickname of Patrick "DE G"ayardon.

I know, most people make this mistake.

Yeah, but we were talking about body position... arms in the back !

And just so we remember the correct body position;)

Most shots people reference on flying of Patrick, are of him flying relative to cameraflyers, planes and helicopters.
But watch the windtunnel footage, and bits where he is not trying to pass a certain mark or position in front of the camera, and its the typical full flight we still teach and practice today.

Just to make clear. Im not saying any other made of flight, using less performance is bad.
Just a purist, and hoping to see more flying, and less falling/diving/powered tracking...
