Lake Elsinore Wingsuit Record Attempt

Unless of course, the media outlets and magazines go beyond the norm of Skydiving and Parachutist.;)

I know the pix of those events made it to the mainstream media everywhere. At least they did here.
I know Ive seen video and pix of both mentioned events on everything from CNN to our local sucky TV station (wedged in between the news of a grocery store having oranges on sale and the weather report).

I guess it all depends on the deal you have with the media..hope there's some good money in it for all photographers included in the event, as the exclusive rights all the different channels/programs are asking seem quite steep for stuff handed out for free..;)

Are we looking at an E.T.A for the pix and video of days..weeks..months?
At least a hint on when anything on this thing will make it online would be nice...as I just got suckered into another reload(F5) on this thread by your reply DSE:P

The picture is in the debrief document, an attachment to the mail I got this morning 0745 CET, which is also in the Google thing for the team.

Neither the mail nor the document itself mentions not being allowed to post it publicly, but I'm leaving that to the organisation team because you cannot undo something like that.

In the picture, all 71 flyers are at least partially in their own grid square. Not all of them completely in their square, but impressive, very impressive.

Jeff, Taya, someone, anyone, please post the document (or the grid picture) or tell us we can't post it. 60-odd people want to post it I think, and any unknown quantity of folks who were not at the event for one reason or another want to read it, but I just don't dare, and I'm guessing I'm not the only one.
Johan.
I am. I think.

:)Whatever picture that might be after two weeks time nothing can be that ''hot''. I have no idea what excuse will come out but.... Was that jump made in North Korea or what!:S
Maybe Kim Jon Ill should approve it...

It's kinda like that Ghost 2 that was gonna be available last May...;) Qualtiy takes time.
I've spent 1-3 hours per night since the event, looking at photos in Lightroom, and with thousands of photos, it takes a lot of time. I'm not even 1/3 of the way thru my shots alone. One can only wonder what the organizers are having to go through.
If' you've never produced a large show, I'm sure it probably seems to be an easy task. If it were easy, it would have already been done.

You're looking for "THE SHOT." There is no value in screwing thousands (if not millions) of potential viewers out of seeing "THE SHOT" and promoting wingsuiting for the benefit of everyone, simply to satisfy relatively few (most of whom claimed such a feat couldn't be pulled off anyway) and did what they could to diminish the event before it began.

I've posted 350 pix of the event, roughly 30 of the full formation. If those don't sate you...Get a Playboy or something.;)

You're looking for "THE SHOT" and "THE SHOT" is worth quite a bit, and there is no point in screwing thousands (if not millions) of potential viewers out of seeing "THE SHOT" and promoting wingsuiting for the benefit of everyone, simply to satisfy a very select few (most of whom claimed such a feat couldn't be pulled off anyway) and did what they could to diminish the event before it began.

I think you think its worth more than it is -- no offense but really
Its a limited audience

Shame everyone is fighting to rate this thing for some form of official acknowledgement, just to prove what everyone already knows.

Its a freaking awesome formation...

The whole rating and judging thing should be discussed in a seperate fashion. Not linked to this event and its awesome acomplishment.

Just getting back to the old fashioned, gay holding hands, cumbaya, 'bejeezus thats a cool formation' chanting nekkid around a campfire with lots of booze and marshmellows would be my wish and advice for now..

This witch hunt is getting scary...

Looks like we all just need to be patient, I wish it had been made clearer before that the lack of evidence was due to media commitments.(I would have kept my mouth shut :P)

In time I assume every photo and all of the video will be published and we will finally see the formation in flight.

A little bird tells me that Guinness and the FAI will be involved too, great news.

We received an e-mail today from the organizers asking not to post the pic yet. The "grid" shot that was sent was very impressive.....by my count 65 people are 50%+ in their "box" with a large percentage of those almost completely in it. The remaining 6 are between 10-50% in their box. Pretty fucking awesome that the 12'th and 13'th rows have 11 of 12 flyers completely in their box.....awesome flying. Great organizing, dirt diving, and planning allowed this to come together.

Happy Thanksgiving.....I am thankful for being part of this flock! :)

Hey, Spot -

I've been watching this from the sidelines, and don't have a horse in this race, so forgive me for playing a little 'devil's advocate':

You say "There is no value in screwing thousands (if not millions) of potential viewers out of seeing "THE SHOT" and promoting wingsuiting for the benefit of everyone..." - do you think those millions of non-jumpers are going to want to pore over the image to make sure everyone is in their slot? The way I see it, it's kind-of like a demo, where people are more happy seeing a stand-up landing than they are seeing a wicked swoop into the stadium.

Those who want to analyze the slot-specific formation with the grid overlay? I hazard to guess they're all skydivers. And *mostly* wingsuiters.

Also, not discounting all that you have done - I know it's a monumental task - but looking at your 'producing a show' analogy, part of producing a show is making sure it seems like it's easy. It has to seem like all the pyrotechnics, choreographed numbers, and critical moments 'just happened.'

I know there's a lot of images, and I know there's a lot of thankless, unpaid work left to do. But news happens fast, and two weeks later, there's still no story.

From all that I've heard from friends who were on this record, it was a monumental achievement. From all I can tell, the organization must have been ridiculously complicated, and those in charge deserve tremendous props. But for the next one, perhaps as much attention needs to be given to the post-game as does the actual event. Maybe you all need to agree in advance as to what will constitute 'good enough' to present to the public. Otherwise, you all sit sorting through photos, other skydivers begin to wonder if you're hiding something...and the public never hears about it, because the press wants to report on news that happened today, not 3 weeks ago.

Otherwise, the stagehands pulling Peter Pan's cables may as well be standing in plain view of the audience.

Again, not discounting the tremendous work you all have done. Just wondering if you all are seriously planning to dig through all 20,000 or so stills one-by-one before you actually decide that you have 'THE SHOT.' That seems like a really bad PR move.

(Forgive the long post. Just wanted to be sure and qualify everything enough to show that, even if the perfect image doesn't show up, I think this is an incredible achievement. Congrats to you all.)

Indeed, It was an Honor to fly with you guys. We did it! and that grid shows it.

Today, among other things I am grateful for all you badass flyers out there who came together to help accomplish this goal.
