Vx(3) proto, sneak preview

Recommended Posts

I was thinking the exact same thing... I am on the verge of ordering one, but am just a little worried about the wing root and the position of the PC handle .... I'll be jumping mine from a cliff and having had 1 "handful of wing" I NEVER want another one EVER again... I really hope the new wing root does not impede the location of the PC handle.:o

I have jumped the suit BOC from the plane, your hand is passing over the arm wing but as it is still inflated I had no issues finding the PC - but it doesn't feel as clean as the Prodigy or Phantom.

The suit is big, it is not for beginners. If the wing area makes you uncomfortable maybe look at the Phantom, Ghost or another intermediate suit as a stepping stone.

For BASE, as body shape, flexibility, arm length, rig length and experience come into play for this I can only say that you need to skydive the suit to find out if it is inside your comfort level.

I personally always jump leg pouch with the V in BASE. Again you need to skydive with it to learn the movement and muscle memory.

Back in Thread Post #98 you posted a few pics and in the side shot Stane has the "Sticks" deflected back and up. I have a number of jumps on a big "Stick" suit and found in my experience that if you don't do that, it gets a bit harder to fly smoothly. The extra wing almost lifts the front up and makes it wobbly, like nearing a stall and it feels like I lost efficiency and fwd speed, just my guess. Is that the same for this suit??

If that is the case, given that level of instability or less efficient flight that you might be able to generate with the 5-7" long extension on the gripper how much of a performance increase are you noting with the extension tit back and up a little out of the wind compared to a smaller grip. Also with the "sticks" there, I know I had to be much more conscience on the pull. Mind you this was at a Skydiving pull altitude. I imagine that this could give a little pucker factor to some one using it in a BASE jump opening much lower and maybe not use to the extension..

Separate from that, I am curious about the gains you get with the extensions even though they seem to be needed to be pulled back a bit....

Suit does look fast in the pics..

That photo is actually of an Italian jumper called Simone, it was his first jump and he was flying dirty so i could stay with him in a V1 prototype , so in short it is not worth reading into that photo.

Is it the same guy in this picture? The dude flying the Black/Red V2?

Don't want to make another post.

Looks like a common habit. Links to pics posted earlier.

Has anybody on here gotten their V3 yet?? Any thought on the production models? Best thing for BASE since sliced bread?? Any reviews on how it flocks since we all know people will be trying that with this suit , i.e. same drawbacks the V series has had previously?

Just curious

Scott C.

Forgot to add that was an awesome link! Thanks Kris

The V3 is wicked fast with solid inflation and no flapping at all -- the workman ship is still the best on the market hands down - - all seams are made as straight as possible - all overlaps are the same throughout the suit -- all seams use 1 common piece of thread - if they run out of thread the seems is taken back apart and resewn back together.

I would have to say the glide ratio is 8 to 1 that is if Jeff was flying it:P and according to my data loggers I can fly up at anytime (just like Jeff)

On a further note you don't have to kick your feet to get the leg wing to inflate

I wouldn't recommend this suit to anyone that doesn't want to have the chicks throwing the goods at them -- my wife hates the suit - but wants me to wear it to bed (I don't understand!?)

That means if you buy one Glen or Monkey you better get some Cialas or Viagra so you can have solid inflation:D

8 to 1? so are we talking a 10 to 1 with Phill Pegs at the helm?

Is lavitra OK ? I have some samples here.
