Zipper malfunctions

Recommended Posts

Quote

Did a WS jump on my BirdMan GTI. Deployed went to unzip right leg and the zipper head ripped off once again. I was not applying too much force and this is the 2nd time this has happened.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a common occurrence?

This is the 2nd time in my total 8 WS jumps.

The "puller" on one of my BM suit leg zippers broke off. I replaced it with a paper clip.

a keychain ring works best, John. They are also great because they are super-simple to attach a pull-up cord to when used for a legwing zip.

Yes, no doubt. However, I was on a 5 minute call at the time, suited up, and a paperclip was all I could find.

The original puller appeared to be made of a zinc/aluminum die cast alloy (aka "shit metal"). Certainly not a high grade product.

They were metal-toothed and around number 10 sized. Large sliders. I had them installed at the local korean laundry (those are everywhere in Fayetteville, NC). They still work perfectly last time I asked.

I've cut my arm with a zipper on opening up.... I can post pictures tomorrow. It was just a plastic zipper on a PF suit.:(
