Russians successfully land a wingsuit!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

A revolutionary landing technology allowed crazy Russians to successfully land a wingsuit without a parachute. Who would have thought that it's so simple?

1. Get on top of a beautiful mountains in Kamchatka, Russia.

2. Drink a lot of Red Bull mixed with Russian vodka, and take a snowboard with you.

3. Fly your wingsuit parallel to the slope.

4. When you see open water, quickly undress and use the snowboard to land on water.

5. Drink more vodka and repeat.

I have to be honest, this is the first post that actually scared me :) Landing is so much easier then everyone thinks. After it is done the first time there is going to be an army of jumper capable of doing it. Its all in the technology and you will be shocked when you see what it is. Before we even land the suit you will look at what we build and say, damn that is so obvious :) It really does make me happy that everyone thinks its so impossible. Its funny how everyone thought it was so impossible to fly before the Right Brothers did it...

I by no means mean to doubt you at all Jeb. You are a role model of mine with the work of yours i have seen. Simply amayzing things. France and NYC are my favorites..

But arnt there physics limitations with landing the wing suit? Like literally limitations that cannot be over come? Even if you land with a close to zero ft/s decent speed, some how all that forward speed has to be relieved with out you injuring and or damaging yourself. I know landing on a ski slope of powder wouldnt be a bad choice, because of the relative angles.. but i've seen skiers that tumbled all the way down flipping and twisting and some of those peoples ACLs didnt look to happy.

Again, by no means am I questioning you, you've got a hell of a lot better resume than 100 jumps and 1 yr in the sport, im merely curious because of heard a lot of crazy fact/ fiction statments on your attempt as well as other peoples discussions.

no disrespect ment:)
-dave.

So Jeb when is this historic day, if this is even Jeb;) who's posting.

Quote" Landing is so much easier then everyone thinks."

So it should not be long then before we see you on finals without a canopy?

Imagine the # of jumps you could do in one day..
land, walk to the plane, and up again....
Back to back loads, and no second rig (or even a first rig:) and packers needed...:P

Speculation time?

Are you going to build a massive net/thunnel/cone in which the landing birdman will be caught?

Or a giant swing, with a hook installed on your back, catching you when you fly past it (a bit like airplanes on an aircraft-carrier)..

I know that I'm looking forward to you succesfully pulling this landing of...must be one helluva trick-card you've got up your sleeve...B|

Probably not wheels. I assume maybe a large Ski and shock system. the ski would be shoulder width with a swallow tip. (A 'V' cut in the tail similar to first gen snowboards.) The Ski would also need to create lift, slowing the decent even more, and to counter act some of the drag. Of course ULTRA light composits. Now Go for someone else.

Nic.

If someone does use this I say now publicly I want a cut of any profits. PM me for specs. jk

You realize with a shoulder width ski under your body, you've almost entirely prevented the air from even hitting your wingsuit, and you're flying a big planar belly ski through the air? (which I'd imagine is NOTHING like flying a non-rigid wingsuit, probably a hell of a lot harder if I had to guess, if possible at all)

If we keep going we might invent a hanglider

How about creating a huge hanglider, and using that to 'freefall un-assisted' across something like the english channel?
That might be cool...:P

But I agree....landing a wingsuit should be about landing a wingsuit...not strapping tons of extra materials on a body untill you end up with a C182 with your head sticking out through the front window B|
