The winner that day was Hook-N-Swoop (Derrick V.) If my memory serves me correctly he tracked 2.5 miles in a RW suit and a full faced helmet. They sent a truck to give him a ride back to the DX. Once you reach certain speed and angle, flapping cloth will only provide drag and does not do anything for lift. Best non-wingsuit or non-inflating suit will be RW suit with booties. Had a wind from the SSE pushing against my right shoulder that kept trying to push me to the NNW. Vertical fall rate according to my protrac was 82Mph. Honestly, anything above 1.1 in a non tracking suit is pretty much on fire. Although I don't have tons of jumps, I have found that the vertical speed e.g. protrack is a good indication of overall tracking performance. My best tracks have been around 70-80mph (TAS not SAS on protrack), and you can really see your angle when you fall through the cloud deck. I'm getting a tracking suit soon, so I'll let y'all know how it performs!! I really think the wind coming at my shoulder had a lot to do with the results. I could definitely feel the push in the air and had to constantly fight to stay on a straight track.
