Andybilly 0 #1 July 17, 2006 I have been having all sorts of problems turning whilst in a sit. I have heard about 3 or 4 ways of doing this all with limited success until now. I was having a discussion with a fellow FF newbie, she said she doesn't think about how to do the turn and just looks in the direction and does it. So I tried this technique and it works! the question is HOW?. Is my body sub consciously making the right adjustments?
AggieDave 6 #2 July 17, 2006 Quotethe question is HOW?. Is my body sub consciously making the right adjustments? Where the head goes the body will follow. I was taught to turn that way while on S/L progression as a student. Is it the most efficent way to turn? Nope. It does have the ability to teach you some really bad habits with your body position. So try spending some time with a coach, if you can, if you can't, carry on with what you're doing, but understand you're going to have to relearn stuff eventually to become a better FFer.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." mattjw916 2 #3 July 23, 2006 One way to turn in a sit is to use your lower leg below the knee. If you are in a proper headup position your lower leg should be perpendicular to the relative wind. If you want to turn right then angle your foot/lower leg out grabbing some extra air with the inside (not the front or back mind you) of your shin keeping your left leg perpendicular. This will push you in a clock-wise rotation. This was the first way that I learned in the tunnel and I find it is the most powerful method. edit: just to make it clear that aggiedave is correct in that you should seek a qualified coach with video if you want to learn how to do it "right"NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
fmmobley 0 #4 July 26, 2006 I asked the same question. Someone told me that when you turn your head you are also turning your body slightly and the effect is like a corkscrew in the air, which results in a turn. It kind of makes sense.... VampireGirl 0 #5 July 27, 2006 DISCLAIMER DISCLAIMER DISCLAIMER I am NOT freefly expert... DISCLAIMER DISCLAIMER DISCLAIMER ..but I have just recently started learning to sit and I have been doing turns simply by making my mind up that I am going to turn and not really knowing what it is that I do! I have started to think about what I am doing now and I think it's just pushing down with one hand. www.sneale-create.com
