Sony A7II IBIS for video?

I'm going to get one of the FE mount Sony cameras - probably just the regular A7 because it's so darn cheap.

However, I could be convinced to splurge. Has anyone used the in body stabilization on the A7II with video? How does it handle freefall?

When I spoke to the sony rep sounded like it was piezo based vs the boss systems. I left the meeting feeling like we would have an issue but I've been wrong before. Basically someone just needs to man up and jump it.

Buy more Turned On's so I can afford to buy cameras again :-)

I've used an A7 and A7s with the OSS kit lens and with a Canon 24mm IS lens and both worked really well for video. However, I too wonder how the moving sensor will take opening shocks.

What's the difference between piezo and boss, and why does it make you feel like it would be an issue?

I shot freefall video with both the Sony A7R II and the A7S II.
Both camera worked well with the on-sensor stabilization.
I assume Sony uses the same exact system on the 24Mp A7 II as well. The A7S II is a fantastic video camera, and most definitely is when it comes to low light.

Could you tell us what lens/es you used and your thoughts on them?

I used/rented the Sony 28mm f2 lens made for Sony full frame sensors. I'm very impressed with the results (definitely at 42Mp resolution using it on the A7R-II), but I didn't have a chance to test any other lens. Sony lenses generally made or at least designed by Zeiss which means very good :)
Stay away from the adapter options!
