SPAWNmaster 0 #1 March 17, 2014 Hi there, updating my RAWA to be more modern and safe. Just removed side box (in favor of top-mount and no longer using old side-mounted DV cam). Now I would like to remove the ladder strap on one side to set up a cutaway system and seeking advice. Attached is the picture, looks like the strap is held on via rivet? Or some sort of snap? Should I just drill through from the outside or try and break the rivet-looking piece inside and then pry washer-looking part off? Thanks,
normiss 723 #2 March 18, 2014 You'll have better luck drilling the side that the rivet is squenched on. The inside. Might need a 90 degree drill head or geared adapter to get in there. Speaking of which....I still need to fill the slot for the cable for the old camera box on mine!
SPAWNmaster 0 #3 March 18, 2014 Thanks, 90 deg bit is worth a shot!
normiss 723 #4 March 18, 2014 I picked up a 90 degree geared head that fits on any drill. Cheap too!
SPAWNmaster 0 #5 March 26, 2014 I ended up drilling from three different angles with a straight bit. Finally the washer gave and then the rivet was easy to finagle out.

hcsvader 1 #7 April 2, 2014 how did you remove the camera box? I had to replace the ladder strap on mine and I just drilled it out and replaced it with a bolt.Have you seen my pants? it"s a rough life, Livin' the dream >:)
SPAWNmaster 0 #8 April 2, 2014 Quotehow did you remove the camera box? Box was fairly easy. Peel away the foam in the box, used pliers to break the plastic rivet pins then drilled through the remaining pieces of the pins and washer. Very soft material (aluminum+plastic?).
