Sony a7 and a7R

Recommended Posts

Last week I was in New York City visiting the PDN expo.
I saw many cool and useful things for skydiving...
But these two were mind blowing:

They are similar size and weight of the NEX series with an additional "Leica feel" (the buttons and dials).
They also work with non Sony lenses through adapters manufactured by these guys: http://www.metabones.com/
Sony actually was promoting this 3rd party accessory during the expo.
The 1080 60p 4:2:2 uncompressed video through HDMI is an impressive feature as well.
DSE any field experience with these new toys yet?
How's the audio recording with that external Sony adapter?

These are nice toys.
FWIW, the 1080 4:2:2 over HDMI has always been there (on all HDMI devices). It's just that now it's become a marketing bullet. The limitation is still 8 bit over HDMI, however.
The audio is audio. Nothing special.

Thank you Spot!
...5D MK III didn't have uncompressed 422 HDMI originaly,
Canon had to make a firmware update. 5D MK II only does uncompressed with Magic Lantern as far as I know.
These two new cameras are very promising in "DSLR kinda " video world. It would be great to record pro quality audio on the same device.

Hey guys,
I saw your thread and thought you might be interested in this.
We just shot this one a month or so ago.
All photo images are from the A7R.
Video is on the Red Epic
