taz9420 0 #1 January 20, 2013 My CX 150 finally died Best Buy is willing to replace it with a another CX or another similar model. I understand the 150 is the last of the great ones, but is there anything that come can come reasonably close? Thanks.
jtiflyer 0 #2 January 20, 2013 lots of people may disagree, but the GoPro3 Black shoots pretty darn good video.
TheCaptain 2 #3 January 20, 2013 It is my understanding that the CX210 and later does not have the 30MM threads for external lensKirk He's dead Jim

Superfletch 1 #6 January 21, 2013 Unfortunately I don't think Best Buy will replace his with a like new one from eBay... Gary "Superfletch" Fletcher D-26145; USPA Coach, IAD/I, AFF/I Videographer/Photographer
aerialcameraman 0 #7 January 22, 2013 I was at best buy the other day and was looking at the new sonys. There is one on there new cameras that still accepts a external lens that is like the cx models. But they did do away with it on the others they had there
mircan 0 #8 January 22, 2013 CX730 (some quick search video here)? DZ.COM thread here. It`s a bit more expensive though...dudeist skydiver #
DougH 270 #9 January 22, 2013 CX760 would be the US model of the CX730. I bought one but I haven't jumped it yet. It has a 53mm? lens thread, but I think it is going to be wide enough without wide angle lenses. I do need to get a filter for it though."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P
mircan 0 #10 January 23, 2013 Judging from the videos, it seems that, without wide lens, it is wide enough for tandems/outside RW. And BOSS looks nice But, it`s pricey... dudeist skydiver #
Zlew 0 #11 January 25, 2013 Trunk has a page somewhere showing how to add threads to the CX190 series (think it's up to like the 230?). That's my current back up plan if mine die. Off to a meeting, but will try to find the link. No OIS, really small, and like 300 bucks. Seems like a good play if you add the threads (epoxy and step up rings and a little tinkering). DSE 5 #12 January 25, 2013 This is likely the best route at this point. Sony is slowly killing off the hand-cams in favor of NEX and ActionCamera-type planforms.

The CX190's are down to 200 bucks on amazon right now.
saxboy 0 #15 January 26, 2013 What about the new cx410..or cx430 for US models I think.? It looks a reasonable choice if you don't want to spend money for the cx 730.!
Basz002 0 #16 April 17, 2013 Does anyone have any experience with the Sony CX410 in skydiving? I've found some reviews which suggest it's an okay camera and a little bit of footage, but none of it is skydiving related and none of it are direct comparisons with other cameras. I'm looking for a camera that offers a step upwards on video quality as compared to the various action cameras available. The CX730 mentioned above looks awesome, but that one is no longer sold and the EUR 1.000 price tag is a bit outside the range I am looking for. I'm also wondering how the video quality of the CX410 compares to the Gopro Hero 3, as they are roughly in a similar price range.
sdls 0 #17 April 17, 2013 QuoteDoes anyone have any experience with the Sony CX410 in skydiving? CX410 is OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) camera, so not (most probably) suitable for skydiving.
Basz002 0 #18 April 17, 2013 The CX410 has Balanced Optical SteadyShot (BOSS). The DZ.COM thread on the CX730 http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=4300214;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread, which also has the BOSS system, suggests that it works well for skydiving. Has anyone else tested this?
