OK to delete Vegas Pro temp files?

Recommended Posts

Is it OK to delete the temp files every so often?

My editing machine has a 120gb SSD for the "C" drive and it was nearly full so the machine was acting buggy. I asked a friend for some help and he helped me find the Sony Vegas Temp files (they were hidden by default) all 80gb worth of them. I moved them to the 1tb "H" drive and opened a few of the projects and they seemed to work fine so I deleted the new folder location on "H" and the projects still seemed to work fine.

Now my "C" drive is back to 40gb or so. Am I gonna regret this later?

Thanks and Blue Skies,
Jason

Thanks DSE! Glad to hear that its OK to delete them!

The default location for the temp files is an APP DATA folder which is hidden with the default Windows 7 settings. But now that I know what is happening, how to find the folder and how to fix it, it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks again and Blue Skies,
Jason

I wrote a program that imports all of my media, sets up all the folder structure on my 2TB hard drive and places the media there, the Vegas template goes in there and it even opens the vegas file for that video.

I got tired of deleting the sfk files, so I just added a hotkey combo for that, at the end of the day/weekend I just run it and delete them.

I'll see if I can cleave off that portion of the program. I think all of the source code is at the DZ, so I may be able to get it for you in the next week or so-ish.

Shoot me a PM to remind me on Sat morning if you would ;)
