How to download a movie from youtube

If you google around there are some sites that have ways of doing it. You enter the url, and it will download the video for you. Once upon a time, you could get the files directly from Safari if you used that browser.

Other side of the coin: youtube lets folks define what level of permission/copyright they have on all of their videos. You can set your videos so that others can use them. Most people do not, and they do it for a reason.

I use keepvid, and on the files that are on other sites that block keepvid, I use Camtasia to create new files from the high-res of the original.

I usually use Downloadhelper, which is a free plug-in for firefox (MAc or PC). Or I used to just use Safari when it was my browser of choice and that one thing was much simpler. For Safari, when you are on the site, click on "activity" under the "Window" pull-down menu. Look for the biggest file that is downloading (usually a "*.flv" file), and double click it to save it to your downloads folder.

If you're on a MAC its VERY easy.
So easy that I forget how... but I google it every time and you don't have to download any other program.

i use keep vid. It works great to take downloaded file put in to vegas and see slowmotion in slowmotion of frame by frame.

Keepvis is great before, but I found that every time I download a 1080 video in mp4 via keepvid, there's no sound at all. It calls me to download the pro version while it's not workable after installing it.
Since there are more and more online video downloaders now. I find some sites like keepvid: http://www.videoconverterfactory.com/tips/sites-like-keepvid.html
Among these sites, clip converter:http://www.clipconverter.cc/ is my favorite as it can download 1080p videos and the audio is there, too. besides, it can even download 4k videos. that's awesome.

I really like Softorino Youtube Converter, which is great. It's about $10 but more than worth it. I've only used it on Macs but it's available for Windows too. You open the program. Then go to youtube and when you've loaded a video you want you copy the address. That sends it to SYC. Clicking download on SYC puts it in your download folder. And it's fast, much faster than actually watching the video on youtube.
