Or more importantly the dangers of a D-ring reserve handle

Yea that's the real issue, some stupid fuck wearing a D ring reserve handle, gee wiz after 75 years or so use it's now proven to be the problem that endangers the users.

How about all you new kiddies try getting with the program and protect your damn handles, that even means not letting some asshat with go pro dump you out @ 13K.... what ever happened to dirt diving with your shit on? Maybe if they would dirt dove that with gear someone would have seen the snag problem..... then again most everyone in the door jam seems pretty clueless of the "real danger"..... that goddamn D handle getting in the way of that go pro.
you can't pay for kids schoolin' with love of skydiving! ~ Airtwardo

Do you want to see the cover of a (British?) parachuting magazine with the cutaway pillow flapping in the wind on a hybrid jump or the incidents where people had problems activating their reserve because of a difficult grip on the pillow or jumper failing to realize that he pulled reserve instead of cutting away because he pulled a pillow and not a D-handle...

Each system (D-handle, mini D-handle, pillow, soft handle ...) has it advantages or disadvantages, but saying that a (mini) D-handle is dangerous...

Yes, each has its advantages and disadvantages.

The D-ring is more prone to a snag, but easier to locate and pull.

The Pillow is less prone to a snag like this but maybe harder to locate and pull.

IMO pillow with an AAD or RSL minimizes both disadvantages, and leaves us with the advantages. However this topic may be more suited for the Gear and rigging section.

Now lets ban all go pros and put 1000 jump limit to all camera jumps ! Amen !
