Tandem Video Sharing

Recommended Posts

Hello All...

I am curious if anyone is getting their tandem video and stills to the students via a website or other program?

I figure. I dub the video and stills, pop them in the mail and send them out... there must be a way for me to share these by uploading them to a website and having the student go on and get them... any thoughts?

thanks..

and before I get shot... I did a search for video sharing, video tandem sharing, websites... and seem to have struck out.

Some DZ's add on an extra charge for delivery to YouTube vs DVD, some DZ's deliver to thumbdrives/flashdrives...

I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't a couple delivering to website-only. That day is certainly coming.

If you have a reasonable internetspeed at home and free traffic you could use a NAS.
Basicly a harddrive connected to internet that you place the files on.

I use that and its great!
If someone wants something i videod during the day i just say i will upload them tonight and they can get download the file themselfs.
That way i dont have to mess around with USBmemorys and find the file they are looking for.
They do it all themselfs. B|

But i dont video tandems, but it would work just as well for tandemvideos.

The way it works is i have folder on my laptop that gets mirrord to the NAS harddrives. So when i copy the files from my memorycard to the laptop they get "uploaded" to my NAS.

North London Skydiving Centre in the UK use their own system for lower-quality stills (high-quality are given on a CD the same day)

http://www.ukskydiving.com/myskydive/

The Army Parachute Association at Netheravon have their own WatchMySkydive site for video that is also used by Dunkeswell I believe.

And of course, there's the original RealXstream for video.

There are a lot of ways to do this. There are companies that sell the service specifically for skydiving, a ton of ways to roll your own (I wrote a whole website that does this for my dz), youtube + file share service, etc etc.

Just depends how robust you need it to be, how much money you want to spend, what your skills are.

Realxstream is a video producing program that not only creates the video from raw footage onto a DVD, it also uploads the video to the internet and automatically sends the customer an email with a link to the video.

You should check it out.

Our DZ uses it and it and the uploads are very popular with the customers as they can share with thier frinds and family back home, most of our cstomers are travellers.

I think this is what you are looking for, see an example by clicking on the link below.

The video is hosted on the realxstream server but they provide code so it can be viewed through your own website.
