working with sound in sony vegas

Recommended Posts

So, I've started using sony vegas movie studio to do my video editing, here's my question

So I drop the clip into the time line then I drop the music into the time line that I want to use what I'm doing not so that you can hear the audio from the main clip is split the music clip, lower the music level and then turn it back up after the audio from the main clip is no longer needed to be hear. Inversely when I want to hear the music instead of the main clip audio I have to split the clip on the main clip and turn it down etc.

Is there a faster way to do this? it seems like I take a long time splitting clips and turning up and down volume.

Thanks for the help

You don't need to split clips/events.
Select the track you wish to modify by clicking on the track header.
Press the "V" key. A blue line will appear. This is a rubber band audio control. Double click to add a node/handle. Double click to create/select a second handle. Pull this down. Go to where you want the audio to come back in volume, repeat the former.
In Vegas Pro, no double click is needed; selections automatically generate nodes/handles.
