What License comes with these software?

Do you have to buy a full copy per computer?

Or can the DZ buy it and put it on 2 stations?

All Sony software comes with a license install that allows for two computers to have it installed, but that not both may be operated simultaneously. The idea is that one will be used on a laptop and the other on a desktop. I don't think you'll find anyone having kittens if you install em' both on a desktop at the DZ.

Usually networks. i.e., the software looks for another computer on the same network running the same software with the same serial number. I just ran in to that this week (I forgot) trying to capture a bunch of HDV to my tower and my notebook at the same time using one copy of FinalCutStudio on the same LAN (multicam shoot, trying to ingest all the footage as quickly as possible on two CPUs). Unplugging the Ethernet cable from my notebook allowed me to keep working on both computers non-stop.

I don't know if Sony or others do it the same way. I think maybe Adobe requires you to register each copy within it's respective computer before you can even use it, but I am not sure about that.

Adobe does a key per address, Sony has a diff system, but they do allow for two copies to be installed/registered on their server. After that...they wanna know what you're doing with the license.
Adobe's system is a PITA in the short run, but nice to deal with in the long run. Just never forget to "unregister" when you sell or fail out a machine.
