SSkydiver 0 #1 May 29, 2003 Looking to get opinions on freefly helmets. Which do you think is the best out there? Hows the fit? How clear is the audible in free fall? The Hurricane looks pretty nice, but then there is the Evo, but then again there are others that look pretty good to. Thanks for the input

riddler 0 #6 May 29, 2003 Bonehead mindwarp. You will want to get the chin-cup to get it fastened to your face tight (about $35 USD). Then you will want to get a camera mount. You are a free-flyer, after all. Gotta have video. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
falxori 0 #7 May 29, 2003 hmmm, i like my hawkeye. got it because it fits great and looks cool (i recommend purple...). besides, it has inner pockets for the audibles, which was important to me. O "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero."
bkdice 0 #8 May 29, 2003 I received a bonehead (mindwarp) for my bday a few weeks ago. I LOVE it. i tried on many different kinds of helmets and this was by far the most comfortable. baking it will allow you to conform it perfectly to your head. my man, who bought it for me, is an experienced freeflier. both his camera helmet and freefly helmet are boneheads. LouDiamond 1 #10 May 29, 2003 Look at RAWA helmets. You will eventually want to fly a camera and the additional expense to set it up at a later date far exceed what you'll pay for a RAWA. You can see pics and read the review I wrote in the camera/video section about the helmet. http://flyfactory.com.br/rawa/"It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING

skybytch 262 #13 May 30, 2003 Hey, here's a totally different opinion - you should buy whichever one fits your head, face and budget the best. The Nvertigo/NvertigoX/Hurricane helmets tend to run small, won't fit larger heads and fit slim faces best. The Aviator/Hawkeyes are better for wider faces and fit a bit bigger heads. The Mindwarp/Optiks seem to fit most face shapes well but don't fit heads bigger than 24". The Velocity is a nice helmet that fits a variety of face shapes but it's a bit heavier than the others. These are the only freefly helmets I've dealt with so I don't have any info on any others. My advice would be to try on everything you're considering buying before deciding. LouDiamond 1 #14 May 30, 2003 Very good observations skyBytch. I forgot to mention that RAWA custom builds to your head dimensions that you provide on ordering. Just another consideration."It's just skydiving..additional drama is not required" Some people dream about flying, I live my dream SKYMONKEY PUBLISHING
