D22369 0 #1 March 15, 2007 on my sony pc-5 the DV in/out has stopped working, on the sony website it shows 300$+ to diagnose and fix.... am I better off tossing in a bit more money to get a new (topmount) sony? or is this dinosaur still worth fixing? Is sony pretty quick to fix and return? or do they drag their feet a bit.. Thanks; Roy
freefallcrab 0 #2 March 15, 2007 I had the same on my PC9. I sent it to Sony who replaced the board and charged me something like 200 pounds (and this was 4 years ago). Well, the DV-out socket stopped working again last season so I bought another camera on e-bay and I am now wondering what to do with the old one - everything else works fine but DV-out is pretty critical when you are doing a lot of 4-wya training and the the camera is top mounted on a FTP (fiddly to take the tape out). If you are lucky there will be a dude at your DZ who can work a soldering tool and maybe fix the problem with spares from an old camera but this seems to be a regular issue with the PC series so finding a serviceable board might be the hard part. Use your wings Johnny....
NoPush 0 #3 March 16, 2007 The video port is part of a mounted circuit board called BJ-1 in the service manual. The part number is A-7074-459-A and costs $120.32. I have replaced this several times on different Sony cameras and the problem was fixed. That being said, it could be something entirely different. On most of the cameras I have seen the plug wears because we do so many dubs, etc. You can order the part from Sony at: https://servicesplus.us.sony.biz/default.aspx It's not difficult to replace if you have the Manual, a small screwdriver set and a good pair of tweezers. Also make sure you are grounded so you don’t cook any components from static electricity. I can send you the Manual but it's a 20meg file. Send me an email address if you want me to send it. Cheers, Jim
