Problem with Sony PC-100, dirty heads possibly

Recommended Posts

Your help is needed!

When I switch the camera on, I get the flashing eject symbol with a flashing "C:31:22" in the upper right corner. I assume the heads are dirty and I bought a head cleaner cassette, but I can't get it to play to clean them. Any thoughts??

Do I need to take the camera to a camera shop?

Thanks in advance,
Lost Paulie

Hey skipper good to see you over the weekend …………

C:31:22 is a “T reel fault. Press reset button with battery installed and load the tape again.” is what the book says.

I’ve seen this on a couple of 100’s and sometimes they don’t quite load the tape correctly. Push reset until you can remove the tape, then reset while empty, then wiggle the tape mechanism as it loads. But if you keep getting error call me ….. Might be able to fixit with tape mechanism from Salcone’s spare 100 or could check price new from Sony.

Jim,

You are beautiful. It worked like a charm.

In online manual at their website, it says that a C:31:XX indicator means something has occured that can't be serviced by the user. Dirty bastards. You rock!!

Great to see you Saturday. I might see you up in Davis or Byron in two weekends if you are there. Might do one day Davis, one day Byron. Probably Saturday in Byron.

Thanks for the help brother.

Paulie
