Adobe Premier

Heya

I am using Adobe Premier to edit my footage but I really can't figure out how to compress the video using DivX/MP3 or whatever for uploading!

Any help?

For MP4,
Browse to:
File/Export Timeline/Movie.

Choose a location to save your file to.
Select the Settings button and choose
~File Type: QuickTime
~Range: Entire Project
~Export Video and Export Audio should be checked.

Choose the Sorenson(or other compression codec), name it, save it.

[edited to add] this same flow is used to render to any format, you'll be outputting MP4, WMV, and maybe Real, along with DivX.

thanks, yeah that's what I did but the codecs are not there. I have installed DivX though. Not sure why it doesn't show.

If I recall correctly, only the older/earlier versions of DivX are supported. Why are you after the DivX codec specifically? For web delivery, mp4, WMV, or other Quicktime formats are more desirable, IMO.
That said, you can use the DivX encoder for anything that you render out of Premiere as a DV or YUV stream.

The new version of Premier Pro has support for more export codecs through the "Adobe Media Encoder" or so it seems to me at least.

it has a lot more support in the Media Encoder than it did in the past.

I was after the DivX codec but WMV is also fine. I have a serious aversion to Quicktime formats because I always seem to have a problem playing other peopole's .mov and mp4 files and I can't convert them to .avi for my portable player.

I need DivX and MP3 encoding for my poratble anyway but the WMV is also not there that I could see. I will have to try when I get home.

There is not DivX codec to choose.

Did you install the divx codec/player or the complete package? Just the codec will not let you save in divx, just view.

Erm I don't know. I installed the download from www.divx.com (the only one available). I know VirtualDub works just fine converting video with the codec so surely so should Adobe?
