Anyone found a non-destructive way to remove an HC3 handstrap?

So that it can be put back for non-skydiving use.

I unpicked the the padded bit on the handle which just left the thin strap with the velcro on. Needed to stick a bit of glue on to reattach some of the velcro bits as they were stitched on in places.

The leftover strap is really narrow but still does the job when doing hand held stuff.

I am going to cut it off but leave excess to attach a hoop, so I can attach it and use it for other purposes (this camera is not "myne" per say)
