HC-42 Mounting Position

People that fly this camera have you gone top mount or side mount, and with what helmet do you use your particular configuration?

I have an HC-40 (same size/shape as 42) on a top mount cookie helmet. It is the shit! The only problem is that it makes me want to try dangerous things!

I have my HC-42 side mounted,CookieComposites black box on a Bonehead Optik Illusion.

I had mine top mounted with my 350D on a FTP.

I have now moved up to a HC1 which i can still top mount with my 350.

I now have a D Box for the HC cameras for sale if any one is interested.

RAWA helmet, sidemount.

I like the helmet and the camera (Except for the stupid docking station, and the fact that I've damaged my A/V input/output port on the camera, which requires me to use the stupid docking station even more.. GRR)

The RAWA camera box was not available in "double" (for filming with the camera upside down) for the HC-42 when I ordered mine in .. hmm February. (Which is a shame for people wanting to fake good HD-flying while being HU, or the other way around, or people wanting to make movies of tracking dives where no one can understand whatthehell is happening

Isn't that a feature available in almost all editing programs, to rotate the image 180 degrees?

i think ive decided to try to find a box and then sidemount to my old mindward. I really like the look of the cookie composites system though, but not enough money for now.

I would recommend against this route and get a proper camera helmet with a cutaway system. Consider what you add to your head here can get you killed. Further, I suggest discussing camera flying with your S&T A or other camera flyers at your DZ before you begin.
Jumping a camera is fun, but it multiplies the risk you are exposing yourself to. Be sure you are aware of all these risks and mitigate them as much as possible

My HC-42 is side mounted in a 2kcomposites FF2. I had to cut(dremel) out several sections of the camera housing in the helmet to make it fit.
