First I-movie attempts...

Recommended Posts

Due to dislocated shoulder a few weeks ago I got busy.

Tell me what you think.
This one I made for the tandem instructor, all jumps from 1 day last year.

And this one is just some bits and pieces glued together from the first 3 weeks of the season (some with colour malfunction in my old videocamera)

What think you all?

I liked them as well. Some of the scene changes might have been better with transitions to smooth them out but nice job. I am a fan a transitions and try and leave an abrupt change for something I want to pop... I liked them though!

I want a Heineken Tandem canopy!! ;)

Got an example of the abrupt change thing?

Good editing imo.

I think that transitions are overused in general. Most TV / Movies / Whatever uses no transition. Just cuts from one scene to the next.

Not to mention the fact that the video work was great so were some of them tandem landings.

Geeze make a comment and Bam Transitions are bad ;) I guess Jason said it better, I like a quick change, not an abrupt or sharp change... The abrupt change is good when after doing nice stuff in the plane with a tandem then to get the pop of the altitude no transition a shot of the ground looking out the door right before climb out..

There are as many ways and opinions as video edits so its all cool....

Hey,
I think the best transition is the one you don't see

Deep...

I care more about timing between video & music than transitions.
And the problem with the I-movie transitions is that they look a bit corny...

Just got a new Windows PC, going to try pinacle, see if I like that.

Ahh going the PC filth option.
iMovie is a program that when the user puts all the transitions into the production it can look like a school project. just because they are there does not mean you have to use them. Before you go PC and have a melt down because of the blue screen, frozen screens and having to down load all the codecs think outside the box and look at Final Cut Pro. In the end though, you are still loading dv, you are still cutting the images and video, you are still loading audio and you are still exporting. at the end of the day, although not high end iMovie reflects the tallent of the user. So, don't fork out cash when you have it all in front of you. As a great man once said to me "Price, Quality, Speed pick any two". I still use Final Cut Pro for my projects and iMovie for quick edits.

Final Cut is awesome. no doubt about it.
I, peronally, would've been dissapointed if I hadn't gotten Final Cut Studio (includes DVD Studio, Soundtrack & Motion) because I use Motion HEAPS.
IMovie is, has been said, more of a begginer, drag and drop sort of program.
I wouldn't go back to those slow, shitty PC's. :P

Cheers,
Jason.

For all of you Mac users out there using iMovie and Final cut pro, are you using laptops? Supposedly desktop computers are better and don't be bogged down as much as laptops and this is significantly noticable among PC's. But in the wonderful world of Mac computers, are laptops decent for the video editing?? If so, what model laptop are you using?
Thanks.
