Canon 350D rattle

Recommended Posts

I just received a brand Canon 350D and when I tilt it backwards and forwards, I can hear something rattling/moving around. An internet search shows that some people have noticed this and think it's OK, while others think it's a fault. The noise does not come from the flash unit. It sounds more like a screw is loose inside the body.

Anyone else notice this?

Open the flash and see if it goes away, my 20D rattles and I found out that it was the hinges on the flash when it is folded.

[replyand orientation sensor (sensor that tells camera whether you shoot vertical or horizontal frame).
Generally, first source is a louder one.

Why does the camera need to know whether I am shooting a vertical or horizontal frame?

And, you say it should rattle, but freeflydrew says his doesn't. Does that mean freeflydrew camera is faulty?

You can set the playback to automatically display the picture in the correct orientation. Don't see the point personally although I guess it's useful if you're outputting to a TV.

The only rattle on my 300D is the mechanism for springing open the flash. If I open the flash and touch the leavers to stop them moving around I hear no rattle.

Where is the light bulb icon when you need it ;)

I am wondering whether to start a poll, should a 350D rattle, yes / no / a little bit. :S Suppose if it takes pictures alright I shouldn't complain.

The file will be saved as a 3072x2048 pixels image or as a 2048x3072, depending on the said sensor. When you output the images out of the CF card they will show the right way on the screen. Wich is good. No need to rotate them in photoshop.
