Compact Flash readers on Powerbook G4

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had problems using (or better yet, sucess) using a compact flash reader with Powerbook? I have a sandisk sddr-91 card reader, and when I try to use it with my Powerbook, it freezes after a couple of pictures download. I have searched the Apple support and forums and have not found any help. Any of you Mac people out there have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ross

i've never had a problem using a compact flash card reader... check that your software is updated from software update. Are you using iphoto to import or some third party software? You should have no problem with any usb CF reader, and you can also use a pcmcia card that allow you to insert the CF into the side of the Powerbook... much faster download speeds.

I"ve had no problem with either my USB1 reader or my iLink reader with my 12" PB. I have it read directly into iPhoto. If I didn't, it would read directly into a 'picture' folder on my HD (default setting with the reader).

Thanks for the feedback. I am using iPhoto, and have all the latest software upgrades.. and it works fine on my G4 iMac with the same software versions... and I can download the poictures using the Camera (Rebel) with no problem at all except that it is really slow. Maybe I should try another kind of card reader.
