gweeks 1 #1 August 22, 2003 I'm looking for a good helmet on which to mount my JVC GR-DVL300 (picture attached). This is the kind of camera that has to be top mounted (too big to side mount). I would use it mainly for free flying. All opinions are greatly appreciated. I'm especially looking for advice about what model helmet I should get and what accessories I would need (dbox, ring site, etc).
diablopilot 2 #2 August 22, 2003 I noticed you have Delarva as your home DZ. Go talk with Martin Evans. He's a VERY experienced camera flyer, who can point you in the right direction. Top mount helmets that I'd recomend are the Optik, Bat Rak, and Flat Top Pro by Bonehead. The Hawkeye is ok too, but I know of several people that have fit issues with them.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. deadbrowncow 0 #3 August 23, 2003 I fly a Flat-top PRO and love it! Some people thought it was too big to freefly with, but I havent had any problems. I love the fit, and the release system is awesome as well. It was a little steep on price, but worth every friggin cent!!!!! There is also a new helmet that Bonehead has out called the Flat Top Narrow. It's lighter, cheaper and less bulky than the PRO, and it might be something you would like to look into.***"A smart person can act dumb, but a dumb person can't act smart"***
SuFantasma 0 #4 August 30, 2003 Think twice about it. The JVC can hardly take regular use, let alone skydiving punishment.
