joboulay 0 #1 March 14, 2003 Is there a way to clean the surface of parts of a container made of cordura? I mean without going trought the process of disasembly. The stain on a few parts of my rig came after a landing in a slipery area........ Any idea? Which soap? etc... I jump, I live, I love. PhreeZone 14 #2 March 14, 2003 As long as its not on or near the reserve container all you should need to do is take some watered down Wol-lite or similar product anct scrub away.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
rigging65 0 #3 March 14, 2003 In the shop, we use Murphy's Oil Soap. It's a jelly like soap that we scrub in with water and a medium bristle nail brush. You certainly don't want to get it anywhere near the reserve tray, or any "thick" portion of the rig where the water might seep in. For what it's worth, you should really just unpack the reserve, take out the Cypres and do it right. How bummed would you be if you tried to fudge it and ended up ruining part of your gear? Hooknswoop 19 #4 March 14, 2003 If it is just dirt, let it dry and brush it off with a nylon brush. Otherwise, full disassembly and a bath tub. Hook

Last week, my rigger told me to let the dirt dry, and use a vacuum cleaner. Works pretty well!Don't underestimate your ability to screw up!
askir 0 #6 March 15, 2003 Good suggestions all of them, I would stay away from the scrubing, sometimes that actually pushes stuff into the weave. I did learn something from a rigging school in Eloy: but it requires separating the canopy from the container...They use regular cheap wal-mart brand carpet cleaner, they mix it with water and dab a little at a time, wash the rag each time and the majority will come out, what was cool is that overnight once the rig dried, the grass stained white became white again, it was very cool.
