Paraclete XP Tunnel Meet for Jump For The Cause Sat 21 February

Recommended Posts

Jump For The Cause North Carolina and Carolina Skydiving League have teamed up with Paraclete XP to bring you a fun day of RW and VRW competition for 'charidee' ;)

Saturday 21 February 2009 to be held at Paraclete XP. Come and spend the day at the tunnel, compete, have fun, get some hot tips from the world's best, and help raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer.

4-way FS meet
Three categories - Rookie (3 members must have <500 jumps each), A (no restrictions), AAA
Six rounds using the IPC dive pool

2-way VRW meet
Two categories - novice (back/belly/head up), intermediate (incl one member head down) - no restrictions on jump numbers but you must be able to perform all transitions in the correct dive pool safely in the tunnel
Six rounds using the dive pool on www.4waymeet.com

Registration fee per team is $180 for each event. This includes six rounds and dinner.

The number of teams able to compete are limited so pre-register to guarantee a place in the meet - this will be a big help to us in assessing numbers. Send your team details to [email protected] (we require three teams per category to run each comp). The 2 Way VRW meet has been included at your request - please come and support it - it's been put on for you

Schedule:

The 4 Way Tunnel Camp is essential for competitors with no 4-way experience in the tunnel, and recommended for those with less than one hour experience. Cost is $70 each including coaching.

To let you make the most of your trip to the tunnel and get some last minute practising in, we have time available from 1pm to 3pm for fun flying. Send an email to [email protected] if you would like to use some of this time - cost $225 per 15 minutes.

Lastly - THIS IS A CHARITY EVENT, not a money meet. We're talking medals and few bits and pieces for the winners - it's all about having fun, raising money and getting your tunnel groove on!!

See you all there :)From the JFTC09 North Carolina girls (Maxine and Karen)

Quick synopsis:

Hi and a huge thanks to all those who came along and either participated or just watched and supported.

We had 28 teams in total; 22 in the 4-way event and 6 in the 2-way VRW event. I'll post the scores up shortly. It was great to see so many teams put together for the event itself, including a 4-way team hybrid with two belly and two back flyers (some ingenious continuity on that!). We loved the fact that so many of the open 4-way competitors took the opportunity to compete with inter teams. We also saw a host of people trying VRW for the first time - awesome.

Big thanks to Paraclete XP for their continued support as our official sponsor for Jump For The Cause, big thanks to CaSL for inviting us to co-host, and to our judges Brian Krause and Chris Talbert for their time and good humour (nothing to do with the beer). Also the instructors earned their money and a special award goes to Earl - we've never seen you so active buddy!!!:P

We raised a staggering $3,500 ;) from the event, due in part to the huge turnout of teams, and from the sale of merchandise and raffle tickets. More to follow on the 'Mother of All Raffles' which includes hours of tunnel time coached by World Champions, as well as vouchers, equipment, clothing etc etc... Watch this space.

We really enjoyed it and who knows, we may do it again some time soon :D
