skow 6 #27 October 25, 2016 skydiverekOptimum: weaker material and slower openings. Do you need that in your reserve? Even though it's weaker it still meets the requirements. But yea, technically it's weaker. About the opening - same thing here, it still opens fast enough (correct me if I'm wrong but i think it's 120m or 400 ft that a reserve has to open??). It is fast enough to open when your AAD fires. Imagine opening from terminal speed. You don't necessary want your reserve to be blasting fast. Otherwise why not pack it without slider?? NV1 0 #28 January 5, 2017 The reserve has to open within 100m wether you are at high or low speed. I personally like to pack the Optimum - and it deploys fast when you open the nose properly. But the fabric is weaker than normal F111. I had a few canopies with slight fabric tears in the center cell - so you should be careful with pulling on the fabric during packing. JerryBaumchen 1,041 #29 January 6, 2017 Hi NV1, QuoteThe reserve has to open within 100m wether you are at high or low speed. PS reserve canopies are certificated under the US TSO req'ments. The US TSO req'ments contain no loss of altitude test as a req'd test. In the latest version of the TSO standard it is an 'optional' test, it is not a req'd test.
