Endless Swoop Vid

Recommended Posts

I have seen other endless swoops (type: “speedrun redbull” in google video), like the swoops hang gliders do. But this is way cooler. I think it’s even way cooler than para-motor swoops (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG0wyXUcqZI). Because this does not require artificial power. I am not trying to take any credit, but I thought about the “rail slide” while swooping before. The Ozone seems to make that easier.

Is that you in the video?
If so: Can speed flying/riding wings be lunched on a flat field? Like in the way paragliders and hang gliders do? I have seen them launch themselves up to a few hundred feet in the air by this homemade pulley system powered by golf curt engine. If that’s possible that would be cool. Anywhere with obstacles can be swoop parks.

If that’s not you. Thanks for sharing the video. I had no idea you could do this in speed flying/riding.

Was going to start a new thread but this one seems to fit - some Idle musings on a thursday given that I've just started a paragliding course!

How do swoop wings and the smallest fastest speedriding wings compare? They seem to be coming at the problem from quite different angles. I guess the speedriding wings would go really well on distance but possibly less so on speed.

This for example is the kind of video that got me thinking.

Like I say, just idle musings - I'm not likely to ever fly either of them!

It is changing pretty fast. Paragliders have a nearly instant recovery arc, so much so it is annoying. You'll see. Speedwings inherited this to a lesser degree but they are now designing them to dive longer. A handful of speedwing pilots on small wings fly with rears but speedwings are *shame* designed to be flown by a toggle monkey.
