AdD 1 #2 August 18, 2010 Jim Slaton's Groundlaunch Center might be a place to start. Brian Germain showed me some nice video of coastal soaring on sand dunes out there, somewhere near Monterrey I think. Soaring on dunes is the best place to start I think, much less dangerous than hill launches IMO.Life is ez On the dz Every jumper's dream 3 rigs and an airstream

mgattini 0 #6 August 21, 2010 Lake Isabella is where I learned, good site, good winds, not too many boulders...PM me if you want the exact location...
Calvin19 0 #7 August 21, 2010 Get a purpose built speed glider and learn how to use it. you live more and longer than all the muppets who have gotten hurt or killed running off things with their skydive canopies. -SPACE-

Soaring requires a specific set of skills that is taught to paraglider pilots, not skydivers. It can be very easy to stall your canopy and spin yourself into a hill. Can it be learnt? yup - but that's not where you start...
