Got my new Sensei 101

Sergey,

the JVX is 3+ grand too. High performance canopies are expensive, no matter whom you buy them from.

It's a fact, I agree.
But speaking of JVX, they have something to justify this high price tag with: it was an innovative canopy, they experimented with new designs & materials, put together a competition team, launched a spin campaign... It has become an 9-cell alternative to Velo on the market.

And looking at Sensei now... well, it's a ghost:) One can't even find a description of this canopy on Bryan's website. What exactly are you getting for your money? How different is it from a Velo, now when the air-locks have been taken out of the equation? If it's still at the proto-type stage, then people will probably buy a test-pilot status along with one of these canopies:)

I know a few jumpers at the dropzone that were going the lotus/samurai direction, but when only the signature series are availble, then they are going to reconsider there canopy choice.... and we have a lot of brians canopies at our dropzone

If you know where to look the there are some info availble about the sensei.

Just like the JVX (distinct changes all the time in materials and other "options" means you just became a test pilot). Just like a non-factory modded Velo that people have been competing with. Just like the 12ft chest strap that Mike has...

When you are at a certain point with flying a high performance canopy and you try to take the next step, you've now reached into a general unknown. No one knew that the small HMA lines could snap after rounding around the corner until The Happy Swooper (.com) unfortunately proved it to be true.

Speaking about the highly modified JVX... a fellow swooper at our dropzone is a big JVX fan in between many Velo's and has just over 100 jumps on his new full sail material version. He has started getting little holes all over the top skip. Is this usual for that material? Some people reckon its the material and others reckon its the RDS? He is in contact with the manufacturer but wondered if this has happened before?

Chris,

regarding JVX send a PM to Frost or Proswooper or other people who fly or used to fly different versions of JVX...

Returning to Sensei, in that short description of his new canopy Brian mentioned so-called FAT TAIL tm airfoil design, which supposedly gives HUGE power in the rear risers...

Anyone on this forum has any idea what kind of modification Brian is talking about?

This sounds similar to the sail material issue other pilots were having (talk to Frost for specifics) where it started to break down. I had heard they had changed sail material type because of it. Is this the new material?

RDS damage USUALLY occurs in the form of line burn, or razor like cuts along the top skin, specifically near the tail.

It doesnt seem the line burn type at all which why we confused - looks almost as if someone has ashed on it and not necessarily just the tail. The canopy was purchased about 9 months ago so not to certain if its the new material. Sounds like Frost is the guy to speak to. Thanks
