Brumby 0 #1 May 23, 2008 Ive been practicing swooping now for the past 250 jumps or so now but cant seem to quite master it. When i first started o done 90's then 180's and so on so on. My 90's and 180's were fine but when i went on the 270's i started lapsing. Initially i done my turn high and gradually brought it down. I finally got the right height to do my turn but i never seem to get the same result! i;e, leveling out too high etc etc. i always keep the same patern for landing but cant seem to get it right anymore, any advice?? phoenixlpr 0 #2 May 23, 2008 Keep turn rate consistent from jump to jump, than there are small tricks if you a bit high .
diablopilot 2 #3 May 23, 2008 Keep working at it. Repetition is your friend here. 250 jumps from straight in landings to 270's is a pretty small sample set to be expecting real consistent results. Just err on the side of safety.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
AggieDave 6 #4 May 23, 2008 Turn height, rate and consistency is nothing that a 1000 jumps won't fix.Ok, seriously, are you using a digital altimeter to assist you in getting your pattern accurate? I'm not telling you to swoop by the beep, but to use an accurate digital altimeter to make your pattern consistent. Then you'll be over your setup point at the right point and altitude. Now, with that said, get real life coaching and practice everything up high again and again and again. The joke about 1000 jumps sounds really asshole-ish, but by god its proven its self true to me again and again. The more jumps I do the more I've learned, the more coaching I get from different people, the more I learn. When I look back at all the ground I've covered from a learning perspective, it makes me happy; however, when I look at the long road ahead of me in terms of whats left to learn, well, its staggering. Truely staggering and drives me harder to do the next jump and practice more and more. You'll find that you start spending more and more time dedicated to only swooping. Hundreds of hop-n-pops and altitude clear and pulls. Out there by yourself just chugging away. Good luck! --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
