freefallin14 0 #1 February 19, 2002 I have heard different opinions on this and was wondering if anyone could tell me whether I should attach the metal link from the bridle to the metal ring on the canopy or to the loop in the material off the canopy (there looks like 4 possible attach points on the Cobalt). Does it make much difference? I wouldn't think either would affect anything as much as deployment goes, but what about care of the canopy, would there be any pinching of material between the link and the ring? Thanks for the help.Bret
AndyMan 7 #2 February 19, 2002 When I asked this same question a few weeks ago, I was advised to avoid metal to metal attachments. So if you're using the metal rapide link on your bridal, you should attach to the fabric loop loop on the canopy._AmICQ: 5578907MSN Messenger: andrewdmetcalfe at hotmail dot com Yahoo IM: ametcalf_1999
TEB6363 0 #3 February 19, 2002 Metal to a fabric loop is a good method, and our student canopies have an extra loop of material. I have a metal link on my kill line and a metal loop on the top of my canopy. To avoid any material being pinched, I added a soft bumper over the french link, just like on a riser. It makes a very clean attachment and keeps any canopy material out from between the link.:::OK, Canopy is Open, No Traffic Around, .. Why are these "Extra" Lines Draping Down??, Damn! SkydiveMonkey 0 #4 February 20, 2002 Metal to metal could be bad as you can catch the top of the canopy there and it can wear it out quicker due to it catching. You shouldn't put a knife in the toaster - but you're an adult now !!!

alan 1 #8 February 21, 2002 I use a Slink to attach my bridle to the attachment ring on the canopy. If PD would just put 5 of them in the bag, then I wouldn't have to make my own.alan

BTW, thanks for the informative posts you've been making lately, both here and in the Swooping & Canopy Control forum. I hope the lurkers and especially the newer jumpers realize that you are one of the people to listen to.alan

I now know what to look for and test when I jump this for the first time!! Kudos !!!!!! Of coarse I'm still going to have My DZO/Rigger jump it so he can double check that every thing feels right. I only have 69 jumps so I'm still learning alot about canopies!!!jason

mangledspoon 0 #13 July 21, 2009 Maybe I'm slow... but I've just swapped my canopy over to another rig, and I figure the way to put the d-bag onto the canopy is simply by pulling the bag/bridle/pilot chute through the metal ring at the top of the canopy... right? not sure that makes sense... but this bag also has an extra metal ring thing which my old bag didn't. What is that for??! I realise how dumb I sound haha, I've always been really slow when it came to rigging stuff.

I realise how dumb I sound haha, I've always been really slow when it came to rigging stuff. some dbags (Mirage for example) have a large enough eye on the bridle where you can girth hitch the bridle/bag trough the ring on the canopy. Others have only a small openings where you need to use a slink or a rapide link to attach the bridle to the canopy. extra ring on the bag ? I can think of a few, so could you post a picture so we don't have to guess ? :) tnx
