pop ups

Recommended Posts

Thea last three days I keep getting the same site popping up and I have pop up blockers on my computer. It is driving me nuts. The site is "welcome to sophalo.com" It pops up when I log onto dz.com and when i log out. Is this s dz.com issue? I dont have any pop ups on any other sites.

I will run a scan and see if anything comes up. It is just odd that it only happens on dz.com and it is a skydiving add with links that pop up.

FYI, the site doesn't exist.

"No whois server known for the given domain"

You might want to try scanning with Malwarebytes, which is, overall, the most reliable scanner available for this sort of thing.

I found this:

and this

SuperAntiSpyware http://superantispyware.com/ is also free, and along with MBAM, is considered one of the top removers. (Spybot and AdAware are pretty much a waste of time, but having now written that, one of them will probably be the only program that finds it.)

You can always try running a HiJackThis scan (http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/), and you can check it here: http://hijackthis.de/

but even if it gives you a big red "x" in spots, you shouldn't kill anything. Just use it as a tool for figuring out what you have.

In the meantime, I'll ask one of the guys at MBAM why their program didn't pick it up and what to do about it.

I should have given you this link:

http://www.filehippo.com/software/antispyware/

The party line is to download from the author's website, but FileHippo is reliable, and it has most of the better free tools.

I had several replies, but nothing yet from the MBAM analyst. In the meantime, someone smarter than me pointed out that since it's adware, AdAware might pick it up where the others do not.
